13. Senior Forest Officer JOB GROUP M ONE (1) POST ADVERT NO: 160/2020
Terms of Service : Permanent and Pensionable
Basic Salary : Kshs. 49,000 p.m. – 65,120 p.m.
House Allowance : Kshs. 15,400 p.m.
Commuter Allowance : Kshs. 8,000 p.m.
Medical Benefits : Comprehensive Medical Cover
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have,
i. Experience of at least four (4) years in forestry,
ii. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Natural Resource Management, Rural Development or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
iii. Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
iv. Certificate in Computer Applications;
v. Be a member of the Forest Society of Kenya ; and
vi. Demonstrated professional competence in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Develop policies and procedures to sustainably manage natural resources management;
ii. Develop and implement the inter-departmental strategy on natural resources management and conservation;
iii. Provide mitigating and lasting solutions to human-wildlife conflicts;
iv. Collect and collate data and information related to natural resources management and advise on their sustainable use;
v. Implement and evaluate strategic plans on natural resources and protection;
vi. Implement and coordinate county and natural resources management and projects;
vii. Plan and supervise forestry projects and programs;
viii. Field inspections;
ix. Preparation of progress reports;
x. Conflict resolution; and
xi. Liaise with stakeholders and government agencies, research institutions and conservation organizations on county forestry concerns.
