ACCOUNTANT
Job summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and results-driven Accountant to manage the company's day-to-day financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, supporting procurement and tender processes through costing and pricing.

- Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts, including ledgers, journals, and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments and client invoicing.
- Process monthly payroll and ensure accurate payroll records.
- Support procurement and tender teams with cost breakdowns, pricing schedules, quotations, and BOQ costing.
- Prepare and file statutory returns, including VAT, withholding tax, and income tax, in compliance with KRA requirements.
- Monitor cash flow, bank balances, and petty cash, and prepare periodic cash-flow forecasts.
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Assist in budgeting, cost control, and variance analysis.
- Liaise with external auditors during annual audits and ensure financial records are properly prepared and audit ready.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and inventory valuation records.
- Ensure proper filing, documentation, and safe custody of financial records in accordance with company policies.
- Monitor outstanding customer accounts and follow up on receivables.
- Support HR and Administration with financial aspects relating to procurement, insurance, vendor contracts, and other administrative matters as required.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Perform any other accounting and finance duties reasonably assigned by management.
- Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- CPA (K) qualification or ACCA preferably completed or at an advanced/final stage.
- Minimum 8 years' relevant accounting experience, preferably in a trading, ICT, engineering, or technical solutions company.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting systems.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Sound knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience in procurement, tender costing, BOQ costing, and pricing will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of payroll processing and statutory payroll deductions is preferred.
