Job Title: Accountant
Department: Accounts/Finance
Reporting to: Directors
Location: Nairobi/Kajiado
1. Job Purpose
The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial reports, monitoring transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements, and supporting sound financial management within the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports, and accounting documentation
2. Process supplier invoices, payments, receipts, and journal entries in a timely manner
3. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
4. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and reconciliations
5. Perform bank, cash, and ledger reconciliations regularly
6. Monitor cash flow and maintain proper financial controls
7. Assist in the processing of statutory deductions and remittances and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
8. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
9. Ensure compliance with company finance policies, tax regulations, and statutory requirements
10. Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes
11. Maintain proper filing and confidentiality of financial records and information
12. Monitor outstanding balances and support debt collection activities
13. Advise management on financial risks, cost control, and financial efficiency improvements
14. Perform any other finance and administrative duties as assigned by management
Qualifications and Experience
1. Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
2. CPA Part II/III or equivalent professional accounting qualification is preferred
3. Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in accounting or finance
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
5. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and statutory compliance
6. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
7. High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
