Position Summary
We are seeking a highly driven and commercially astute Business Development Officer with deep knowledge of the Asian market and MANDARIN fluency (MANDARIN IS A MUST). The ideal candidate will have strong networks among Asian importers and exporters operating in Kenya and be capable of leading client acquisition, developing strategic partnerships, and expanding our presence in the Asia–Africa trade corridor.
This role is ideal for someone who understands regional trade flows and is passionate about driving growth within cross-border payments and FX ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
- Identify, prospect, and onboard Asian importers and exporters operating in Kenya.
- Build and maintain trust-based relationships with business owners, traders, and financial institutions.
- Develop tailored solutions for clients across cross-border payments, FX, and settlement services.
Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Generate strong sales pipelines and deliver on revenue and client acquisition targets.
- Negotiate and close high-value deals across payments, FX, and liquidity services.
- Ensure seamless onboarding and provide exceptional post-acquisition support.
Market Expansion & Strategic Partnerships
- Leverage deep market knowledge to identify strategic partnership opportunities.
- Represent the company at Asian business events, trade shows, and fintech forums.
- Provide insights on emerging trends, regulations, and competitive landscape affecting Asian trade.
Reporting, Compliance & Forecasting
- Maintain accurate CRM records and track all business development activities.
- Prepare regular performance reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates.
- Ensure all engagements follow internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 6–8 years of proven experience in sales, business development, or consulting.
- Strong exposure to Asian business communities in Kenya (Chinese, Indian, etc.).
- Deep understanding of Asian import/export dynamics and established networks.
- Strong B2B sales experience with a track record of closing high-value deals.
- Knowledge of cross-border payments, FX, or fintech products is a strong advantage.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin (MANDARIN IS A MUST) — additional Asian languages (Hindi, Gujarati, etc.) are an added advantage.
