Magnate Ventures is seeking a talented and dedicated Commercial Manager – Special Projects who will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and strategic partnerships for both B2G (Business-to-Government) and B2B (Business-to-Business) channels. The role will focus on securing high-impact commercial opportunities through national and county government projects, corporate partnerships, and special strategic initiatives. The position requires a commercially astute leader with an exceptional understanding of public and private sector contracting, tendering, and relationship management. You will oversee the full commercial lifecycle – from opportunity identification, tendering, negotiation, to execution – ensuring high-value wins, sustainable margins, and flawless project delivery. Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Commercial Development (B2G & B2B)
· Lead the identification, qualification, and pursuit of new commercial opportunities across B2G (national and county governments) and B2B (private sector, development partners, and corporates).
· Develop and execute a robust commercial strategy aligned to the organization’s long-term business objectives.
· Establish and nurture high-level relationships with government entities, parastatals, private sector decision-makers, development agencies, and key industry stakeholders.
· Serve as the commercial subject matter expert and advisor to the leadership team, shaping bids, partnerships, and investment decisions.
2. Tendering, Bidding, and Contracting
· Oversee the full bid management process: tender identification, qualification, bid preparation, submission, and post-submission follow-ups.
· Lead end-to-end negotiations for B2G and B2B contracts, ensuring commercial value maximization and risk mitigation.
· Ensure full compliance with relevant national and county public procurement regulations, as well as best practices in private sector contracting.
3. Relationship & Stakeholder Management
· Build and maintain trusted relationships with key government officials, procurement authorities, private sector executives, and development partners.
· Represent the organization at industry events, networking forums, and stakeholder engagements.
· Resolve complex commercial, contractual, and operational challenges to maintain healthy stakeholder relationships and project continuity.
4. Commercial Execution & Project Delivery
· Work closely with cross-functional teams (legal, technical, operations, and finance) to ensure seamless project implementation and successful contract execution.
· Oversee project commercials to ensure profitability, adherence to timelines and client satisfaction.
· Proactively monitor project KPIs and take corrective actions where needed.
5. Market Intelligence & Business Insights
· Conduct market analysis to identify trends, competitor activities, regulatory changes, and emerging commercial opportunities.
· Provide leadership with actionable insights and recommendations to refine the commercial strategy.
· Drive innovation by proposing new partnership models, revenue streams, or market segments.
Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Engineering, Procurement, Law, or a related field.
· Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in sales, commercial, or business development roles, with at least 4 years at managerial level.
· Proven track record of driving revenue growth and achieving sales or commercial targets.
· Proven track recording closing and managing large scale special projects
· Deep understanding of public procurement laws, government tendering processes, and private sector deal-making.
· Strong business development skills, with the ability to identify, qualify, and close opportunities.
· Demonstrated commercial acumen with experience in developing pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and managing P&L or revenue lines.
· Experience in client relationship management, including building and maintaining high-level partnerships with corporates, government, or development partners.
· Strong account management experience
· Familiarity with tendering, bidding, and compliance processes (B2G/B2B) in winning opportunities.
· Strong financial acumen with the ability to develop and defend complex business cases.
