JOB SUMMARY

Soohan Limited is a growing agribusiness engaged in sustainable horticultural production in Kisaju, supported by borehole-fed drip irrigation systems. We are seeking a proactive, disciplined, and technically competent Farm Supervisor to oversee day-to-day crop and livestock operations.The role supports the Farm Manager in implementing production plans, supervising field teams, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. It also includes oversight of small-scale goat and poultry trial units geared towards the development of integrated farming systems for future expansion.Essential QualificationsDiploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agribusiness, or Animal Production.Minimum of four (4) years’ hands-on experience supervising horticultural or mixed farming operations.Practical experience with drip irrigation systems and borehole water management.Proven ability to organize field work, manage labor, and maintain production schedules.Strong record-keeping, input monitoring, and daily farm reporting skills.Computer literacy (Excel, Word, or digital farm management tools).Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.Desirable QualificationsExperience in small livestock management (goats and poultry).Basic mechanical skills or familiarity with irrigation system maintenance.Training in Public Relations or staff coordination.Familiarity with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) or similar farm management standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Production & OperationsOversee daily field activities: land preparation, planting, irrigation, weeding, pest control, and harvesting.Implement production plans and staggered planting schedules as directed by the Farm Manager.Supervise horticultural production blocks to ensure agronomic standards are met.Manage daily routines for goat and poultry trial units, ensuring appropriate feeding, hygiene, and production records.Ensure efficient and sustainable use of drip irrigation and borehole water systems.B. Labor SupervisionAssign and monitor tasks for farm workers, ensuring efficiency, quality, and timely execution.Maintain daily labor output and attendance records.Promote discipline, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards.Provide guidance and assist in on-the-job training of field staff.C. Equipment & InfrastructureOversee routine maintenance of irrigation systems, pumps, and farm equipment.Report breakdowns and maintenance needs promptly to the Farm Manager.Ensure proper use, care, and security of tools, inputs, and farm infrastructure.D. Record Keeping & ReportingMaintain logs on planting dates, irrigation schedules, pesticide use, and yields.Track livestock performance, feed use, and production data for trial units.Prepare and submit daily and weekly reports to the Farm Manager.Monitor input stock levels and alert management for timely replenishment.E. Compliance & SafetyEnforce farm safety, hygiene, and environmental standards.Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals, fertilizers, and livestock feed.Maintain cleanliness and orderliness across all farm sections.Key DeliverablesContinuous and timely production across horticultural units.Efficient irrigation management with minimal water wastage.Accurate and up-to-date crop, input, and livestock records.High standards of field hygiene and compliance with farm safety procedures.Timely submission of detailed weekly production reports.Key CompetenciesStrong technical understanding of horticultural production and livestock management.Leadership and teamwork abilities with a hands-on approach.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.High attention to detail, especially in reporting and documentation.Strong commitment to sustainability, efficiency, and ethical farming practices.Work EnvironmentThis is a full-time, on-site position at Soohan Limited’s Kisaju Farm. The role requires outdoor work under varying weather conditions. The candidate should be willing to reside near or within the farm premises.
