Reports To: Director of Finance - Africa
Indirect Report: Country Manager
Contract Term: 1 Year
Salary Range:100k-150k gross
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and interpret financial reports, budgets, accounts, commentaries, and statements.
- Analyze financial information and provide insights to drive informed decision-making.
- Present financial forecasts and monitor financial trends.
- Team Leadership and Performance Management
- Lead and manage the finance team to ensure high performance and continuous development.
- Conduct regular performance reviews to ensure individual and departmental goals are achieved.
- Mentor and guide team members to build their skills and support their career growth.
- Identify skill gaps within the team and collaborate with HR on recruitment and development strategies.
- Provide regular, constructive feedback to enhance team performance.
- Strategic Planning
- Participate in strategic analysis and contribute to long-term business planning.
- Align financial strategy with overall organizational goals.
- Research pricing, competitor performance, and factors affecting business outcomes.
- Provide actionable recommendations to support growth and sustainability.
- Support senior management in data-driven decision-making and scenario planning.
- Financial Control and Systems Management
- Oversee income, cash flow, and expenditures, implementing cost reduction initiatives as necessary.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to approved budgets and financial plans.
- Develop and maintain effective financial systems and models to support planning and forecasting.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and efficient financial reporting and accounting processes.
- Continuously improve financial processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Audit and Compliance
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure timely audits and compliance.
- Ensure full compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Uphold financial transparency, integrity, and accountability in all finance operations.
- Risk Assessment
- Conduct business modeling and financial risk assessments to identify potential threats and opportunities.
- Advise management on risk mitigation strategies and contingency planning.
- Ensure proactive identification and resolution of financial risks.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration
- Liaise with managerial staff and colleagues across departments, fostering strong, collaborative relationships that enhance overall business cohesion and efficiency.
- Promote a cohesive and supportive work environment, ensuring smooth interdepartmental workflows and open communication.
- Provide financial advice and support to other departments as needed.
- 8. Management Reporting
- Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly management reports, providing valuable insights and well-considered recommendations to senior leadership.
- Represent the company professionally in financial dealings, ensuring that external stakeholders view the organization as transparent, reliable, and financially sound.
- Offer financial recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic decisions.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Complete any other roles assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience :
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- CPA (K) or ACCA qualification is mandatory.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant finance experience, with at least 2+ years in a managerial role.
- Solid understanding of Kenyan financial laws, tax regulations, and statutory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Proficient in financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
- Proven leadership, people management, and team-building skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Experience in working in a multinational or multi-country setup is a plus.
