JOB SUMMARY
The job holder will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainability strategies while considering the environmental, social, and governance impacts of the organization’s business operations and ensuring that the strategies are within the prevailing sustainability legislation. He/She will be actively involved in educating employees and other stakeholders on the importance of sustainable management practices within the Company and its environs.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work collaboratively with the Business and Departmental heads to execute sustainability performance enhancement goals and targets; and effectively monitor and measure progress.
2. Coordinate and support internal business stakeholders in the implementation of sustainability initiatives.
3. Plan and execute stakeholder engagement and materiality assessment initiatives and generate reports and response action plan as required.
4. Manage the sustainability reporting process for annual report and integrated reporting.
5. Coordinate and support internal business stakeholders in the implementation of sustainability initiatives.
6. Set short, medium, and long-term sustainability targets for the company, including developing strategies for environmentally friendly products and services, social responsibility and compliance with relevant institutions and the government.
7. Set up standards and measurement to optimize processes and procedures, evaluate effectiveness and embed implementation in day-to-day jobs.
8. Promote the organizations’ sustainability philosophy to internal and external stakeholders.
9. Manage the implementation of Sustainability campaigns and ESG initiatives with measurable impact on the business.
10. Coordinate Sustainability Leads and champions from various business units and departments by supporting their capacity building and delivery of performance targets.
11. Coordinate and support the operationalization of the organization’s sustainability approach/policy across all business operations through internal and externally
facilitated sustainability trainings, workshops, and other initiatives.
12. Monitoring the corporation’s sustainability performance Conduct regular audits and inspections of the operating areas to identify areas of improvement and maintain compliance records.
13. Analyzing and auditing corporate activities such as the process of waste elimination, energy consumption, resource conservation, recycling, transportation, and sustainable planning as well as prevention of environmental incidents and hazards, monitoring energy and CO2 data.
14. Monitoring and evaluating the Company’s production, manufacturing, shipping and receiving processes as they relate to sustainability and compliance with regulations.
15. Writing and presenting reports that detail the results and evaluations of research information to management with recommendations for implementation.
16. Organize frequent environmental management reviews (minimum bi-annually).
17. In close collaboration with the Heads of Business Units/ Departmental Heads and EHS Managers, identify sustainable solutions and implement best practices aligned the Company and regulatory sustainability goals and standards.
18. Stay updated on emerging sustainability trends and technologies in the Country and global certifications to drive continuous improvement.
19. Leading training sessions and workshops on sustainability practices, regulations, certifications as well as policies for organization.
QUALIFICATIONS & KEY COMPETENCES
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability Management, Supply Chain, Compliance, or a related field.
2. Master’s in Environmental Studies and Sustainability or related field.
3. A professional certification in sustainability.
4. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Sustainability & ESG Management, most preferably in Agribusiness.
5. Good Knowledge of Agricultural industry regulations and standards
6. Familiarity and proven experience in sustainability reporting frameworks and standards
7. Strong Leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
8. Strong skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and internet research
