Job Description

The National Gender Equality Commission is a constitutional Commission established by an Act of Parliament in August , as a successor commission to the Kenya National Human Rights and Equality Commission pursuant to Article 59 of the Constitution. NGEC derives its mandate from Articles 27, 43, and Chapter Fifteen of the Constitution; and section 8 of NGEC Act (Cap. 15) of , with the objectives of promoting gender equality and freedom from discrimination.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Analyzing the utilization of the human resources at the Commission and advising on proper deployment and training; Analyzing staff performance and career progression and making appropriate recommendations; Facilitating recruitment, selection, placement, training and development of staff; Payroll administration; Carrying out training needs assessment; Facilitating implementation performance appraisal system; Facilitating human resource planning, discipline, employee relations and staff welfare; Facilitating sensitization on cross-cutting issues; and Ensuring correct interpretation and implementation of human resource management/development policies, rules and regulations.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: 

Served in the grade of Human Resource Officer I or in a relevant and comparable position for a minimum period of three years; A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Human Resource Management, Business Administration/Management, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or any other relevant and comparable qualification from a recognized institution; 12 | P a g e A Diploma/Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management or Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP); Attended a Senior Management Course in a recognized institution; Met the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya, ; Computer Skills; Been a Member of a relevant professional body;and Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
