Job Description/Requirements
JOB TITLE: SYSTEMS & INFRASTRUCTURE OFFICER
NATURE OF JOB: FULL TIME
SALARY: KSHS. 50,000-70,000
JOB LOCATION: MLOLONGO
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Systems Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, servers, and applications.
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability.
- Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Implement system updates, patches, and security configurations.
Network Administration
- Manage and support LAN/WAN infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and optimize network operations.
- Maintain network security through access control, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Collaborate with ISPs and service providers to resolve connectivity and bandwidth issues.
IT Infrastructure Support
- Provide technical support to end-users on hardware, software, and network issues.
- Maintain IT inventory including hardware, software licenses, and network equipment.
- Oversee installation and configuration of desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
- Support data center operations including power, cooling, and cabling management.
Security and Compliance
- Implement and maintain IT security policies, firewalls, and antivirus protection.
- Ensure data protection and compliance with organizational IT policies and regulations.
- Conduct periodic system and network audits to identify vulnerabilities.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain updated documentation for network configurations, systems, and procedures.
- Prepare reports on system performance, incidents, and IT infrastructure status.
- Contribute to IT strategy development and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in IT systems and network administration
- Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux server environments
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs)
- Experience with virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) and cloud platforms is an added advantage
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery tools and procedures
- Relevant certifications (CCNA, MCSA, CompTIA Network+/Security+) are an advantage
