Transport Accountant
Job summary
We are seeking a Transport Accountant to manage transport and fleet finance, cost control and reporting. The role will monitor fleet utilization, fuel, maintenance, transporter and logistics costs while identifying inefficiencies and driving measurable cost savings

Key Responsibilities
Analyse fleet requirements, utilization and vehicle-wise operating costs.
Identify excess, idle and under-utilized vehicles and recommend corrective action.
Conduct own-versus-rented fleet cost-benefit analysis.
Monitor fuel consumption, kilometres per litre and fuel costs.
Control vehicle repairs, maintenance, tyres and battery expenses.
Verify transporter invoices against contracts, rates, trips, kilometres and supporting documents.
Review employee vehicle usage and reimbursement claims.
Manage accounting and reconciliation of import and logistics costs, including freight, customs, clearing, inland transport, demurrage and detention.
Prepare monthly fleet and logistics MIS reports.
Identify and implement opportunities for fleet, route, fuel, vendor and logistics cost optimization.
Maintain a transport cost-saving tracker and quantify actual savings.
Ensure accurate transport expense booking, accruals, provisions, reconciliations and month-end closure.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
5–7 years of relevant professional experience.
CPA (K) or ACCA is an added advantage.
Experience in FMCG, dairy or beverages is preferred.
Strong accounting, financial analysis, cost-control and reporting skills.
Strong Excel and data-analysis capabilities.
Ability to identify cost leakages and drive measurable savings.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills.
