Job Summary

Our client is looking to hire an accountant who will support the finance and accounting functions within the property management company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, proper record-keeping, timely reconciliations, and compliance with internal controls.

  • Experience Length : 2 years

Job Description/Requirements

The position reports directly to the Chief Accountant and shall be on a two-year contract with a six-month probation period.          

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and journals.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in a timely manner.
  • Support the field property management team
  • Manage petty cash (reimbursements, replenishing float)
  • Prepare monthly bank, tenant, and landlord reconciliations.
  • Support the Chief Accountant in tax compliance processes
  • Assist in preparing periodic financial statements and management reports.
  • Verify and post rent collections, utility billings, and service charge statements.
  • Support the preparation of monthly property financial reports for landlords.
  • Assist in billing tenants and monitoring outstanding rent and arrears.
  • Ensure proper filing and documentation of all financial records.
  • Participate in internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assist in budget preparation and expenditure monitoring.
  • Support asset management, inventory control, and financial analysis.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial information.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA (K).
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in accounting, preferably in property management or real estate.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications.
  • Understanding of Kenyan tax laws and financial regulations.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under minimal supervision.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
