JOB TITLE:ACCOUNTANT

NATURE OF JOB: FULL TIME

SALARY:KSHS. 50,000-60,000 

JOB LOCATION:RUIRU


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Record all financial transactions accurately using accounting software, ensuring completeness and timeliness.
  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements.
  • Reconcile bank statements monthly and investigate any discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain proper documentation and filing systems for all financial records to support audits and decision-making.


Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Generate customer invoices promptly and ensure they comply with ETIMS and tax regulations.
  • Follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure timely payment and manage debtors& aging reports.
  • Process supplier invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure payments are made as per agreed terms.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and resolve any invoice or payment disputes.


Tax Compliance & Statutory Filings

  • Calculate and file statutory deductions such as PAYE, SHIF, NSSF, and HELB.
  • Prepare VAT returns and file them on the iTax portal within required timelines.
  • Generate Withholding Tax (WHT) certificates and issue them to suppliers.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax regulations and ensure full compliance, minimizing tax risks and penalties.
  • Maintain ETIMS compliance by ensuring that all sales are electronically captured and transmitted as required.


Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in preparing annual and quarterly budgets in collaboration with departmental heads.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets, analyze variances, and report findings to management.
  • Update rolling forecasts based on business performance and changing market conditions.


Audit & Internal Controls

  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing all required documentation and explanations.
  • Identify gaps or weaknesses in existing controls and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures related to procurement, payments, and financial reporting.


Payroll Support

  • Collate payroll data such as attendance, deductions, overtime, and benefits.
  • Liaise with HR or payroll software to ensure accurate and timely salary processing.
  • Ensure statutory payroll deductions are filed and paid accurately and on time.


Inventory and Asset Management

  • Maintain an up-to-date fixed asset register including asset additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Reconcile physical inventory counts with records and investigate variances.
  • Assist with stock costing and stock valuation during audits or monthly closings.


Financial Systems & Technology Use

  • Maintain and update accounting software systems with correct codes and accounts.
  • Use Excel for advanced data analysis (e.g., reconciliations, projections, pivot tables).
  • Extract and analyze financial data for management decision-making.


Stakeholder Liaison

  • Liaise with banks regarding account operations, reconciliations, loan repayments, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and government agencies regarding financial matters.
  • Respond to queries from management, auditors, and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.


General Administrative Support

  • Provide financial insights and support to other departments where needed.
  • Ensure all licenses, permits, and insurance policies related to financial operations are up to date.
  • Continuously improve accounting processes and workflows for efficiency and accuracy.


KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA Kenya certification is mandatory
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Accountant, preferably in a busy and high- volume work environment
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (specify if any preferred systems are used) and advanced skills in MS Excel
  • In-depth knowledge of statutory compliance, tax regulations, and filing systems, including iTax and eTims
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work outputs
