Job Summary

Our client, an NGO is looking for a good fit for a Communications Officer position to support overall functioning of the Communications Department as well as the monitoring and evaluation and reporting frameworks. It is to ensure that both internal and external stakeholders consistently and accurately receive all information that pertains to them within the timelines set out.

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelors
  • Experience Level: Mid level
  • Experience Length: 4 years

Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities

1. Capture and write impact stories that are results-based for all the NGO’s publications, both in print and online.

2. Edit, develop, and prepare content for quarterly reports, newsletters, and annual reports. 

3. On a weekly basis update the website

4. Maintain and manage Information through a contacts database and other Customer Relations Management software

5. Edit and develop content for other communication tools e.g., brochures, speeches, video scripts, media releases, fundraising campaigns, etc.

6. Maintain the organization’s electronic photo album

7. Actively maintain the organisation's interactive social media platforms, i.e.  Facebook, Twitter, etc

8. Build the reporting capacity for Country Coordinators.

9. Other roles as assigned within the organization


Required Skills and Qualifications

1. A university degree or a higher diploma in Communications or Journalism

2. At least 4-5 years of relevant working experience in Communications.  

3. Have a mission mind and a nose for news

4. Ability to travel once every quarter, as and when funds allow.

5. Familiarity with web design/management and a good command of MS Office

6. Must have photography, video and multimedia skills to document stories of change.

7. Ability to work well in a multicultural environment across different geographical locations

8. A team player, highly organized and efficient
