Customs Declaration Clerk
Job summary
Responsible for accurate preparation, processing, and follow-up of customs declarations and related documentation to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and smooth clearance of cargo. The role requires strong technical knowledge of customs procedures and the ability to manage multiple consignments with precision and accountability.
Job descriptions & requirements
Handle customs declarations for all import entries, preparation and processing of IDFS and required permits (KEBS, Radiation, ACA, UCRS, and other regulatory approvals).
Prepare and submit import charges requests for both local and transit cargo.
Lodge pickup orders for transit and local shipments.
Lodge Delivery Orders (DO) for local and transit cargo.
Maintain continuous phone and operational follow-ups with field clerks to ensure smooth workflow and timely output.
Facilitate and track payments of KPA invoices in coordination with finance.
Perform container validations and ensure accuracy of shipment records.
Qualifications.
Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in customs declaration or clearing and forwarding operations.
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Clearing and Forwarding, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
Kesra certification is an added advantage .
Strong working knowledge of customs systems, procedures, and relevant trade regulations.
Demonstrated competence in tariff classification and documentation review.
High attention to detail and accuracy under time pressure.
Good communication and coordination skills. Integrity and strong sense of accountability.
