Job summary
The Fiber Optic Technician will install, test, maintain and repair fiber optic networks across Nakuru, Ruiru, Naivasha and Molo. The role will perform fiber splicing, OTDR testing, troubleshooting, site surveys and preventive maintenance while ensuring reliable network performance and quality installations.

Role Objective
Install, maintain, test and repair overhead and underground fiber optic networks and associated telecommunications equipment while ensuring quality connections, reliable network performance and compliance with applicable fiber industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and maintain feeder, distribution and drop fiber optic cables.
- Install and maintain fiber access terminals, joint boxes and fiber distribution pedestals.
- Splice and terminate fiber optic cables using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Conduct OTDR testing and troubleshoot fiber systems to identify faults and performance issues.
- Provide onsite and remote technical support to customers and team members.
- Conduct site surveys using GPS-based applications and interpret network designs and installation drawings.
- Perform preventive maintenance on existing fiber optic systems.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies used during installations and repairs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Telecommunications or equivalent qualification.
- At least 2 years of experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance.
- Practical experience in fusion splicing and OTDR testing.
- Knowledge of fiber industry standards and regulations.
- CFOT, FOA or other relevant certification is an added advantage.
