About the role
We're looking for a hands-on network operations lead to own the design, performance and reliability of our fibre network. You'll keep our customers online, help us expand into new areas, and fix problems before customers notice them.

- Manage and configure OLTs, ONUs/ONTs, core and edge routers, and switches.
- Supervise cable deployment (aerial and underground), splicing and termination, and make sure installations meet quality standards.
- Monitor network performance, uptime and capacity, and act early on problems before they cause outages.
- Lead fault response and outage resolution, find root causes, and write short incident reports.
- Plan and run preventive maintenance schedules.
- Supervise and coach field technicians and contractors.
- Keep network documentation up to date: maps, IP plans, device configurations and fibre records.
- Work with Sales on coverage feasibility and with Customer Care on escalated technical cases.
- Manage network equipment inventory and help choose vendors and equipment.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, IT or a related field.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with fibre optic systems at an ISP, telco or fibre contractor.
- Practical experience with GPON/EPON OLTs (e.g. Huawei, ZTE, VSOL, BDCOM) and routers (MikroTik, Cisco or Juniper).
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing (OSPF/BGP), PPPoE/DHCP and RADIUS-based subscriber management.
- Able to use an OTDR, a power meter and a fusion splicer, and to read fibre test results.
- Willing to do field work and be on call when there are critical outages.
Added advantage
- Coding or scripting (Python, Bash) to automate tasks, monitor the network or build tools.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, LibreNMS, PRTG or Grafana.
- Certifications such as MTCNA/MTCRE, CCNA, HCIA, or a fibre certification (e.g. CFOT).
- Experience with GIS or network mapping tools such as QGIS.
What we're looking for in you
You stay calm when the network is down at 2am. You fix things properly, not just quickly. You take ownership without waiting to be told.
In your cover note, answer this question in 150 words or fewer:
