Job Description/Requirements
Location: Emali, Kenya
Reports to: Head of Finance
Key Responsibilities:
• Supports the development and implementation of finance and tax strategies, policies, and processes.
• Assists the Chief Financial Officer in developing short, medium, and long-term financial plans for GZI.
• Advises Executive Management and relevant Board Committees on the financial implications of business continuity plans.
• Provides guidance on the financial viability of proposed projects, regulatory changes, and market trends.
• Oversees the preparation and consolidation of annual budgets, including periodic re-forecasting.
• Manages the implementation, monitoring, and review of budget performance.
• Coordinates fundraising activities as approved by the Board to finance company operations.
• Establishes and maintains profit and cost control policies to drive profitability, define goals, and measure performance.
• Assists in implementing effective asset and liability management strategies.
• Manages treasury functions to ensure optimal sourcing, allocation, and growth of funds.
• Supports the development and implementation of a robust accounting framework aligned with statutory requirements.
• Reviews and approves all journal entries in SAP.
• Implements a reliable financial reporting system to meet compliance and reporting standards.
• Ensures strong financial controls to support seamless payments and financial efficiency.
• Ensures timely reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
• Maintains accurate accounting records of company transactions and assets.
• Prepares financial and management reports for internal use and external stakeholders, including investors and lenders.
• Collaborates with the HR Department to ensure timely salary disbursements.
• Promotes a cost-conscious culture across the organization.
• Sets standards and procedures for internal and third-party payments.
• Ensures timely supplier payments and efficient collection from customers.
• Assists the CFO in coordinating internal and external audits.
• Monitors compliance with accounting standards and internal finance policies.
• Acts as a liaison for internal and external audits, ensuring smooth audit processes.
• Manages relationships with key external stakeholders including regulatory bodies, auditors, solicitors, and banks.
• Maintains strategic banking relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective funding of operations.
• Engages with current and prospective investors to optimize company value and ensure liquidity.
Minimum Requirements (As per Kenyan Law):
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related discipline.
• MBA or a Master’s in related discipline will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 10 years relevant experience, 5 of which must be in a managerial role.
• Relevant professional certifications e.g. Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPAK), Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA or its equivalent is required).
• Good standing with the ICPAK.

• In-depth knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and strong expertise in budgeting and financial planning.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and advanced Excel/financial modelling skills.
• Strong analytical thinking with the ability to provide strategic financial insights.

• Proven leadership in managing and developing high-performing finance teams.
• Effective in driving change and improving financial processes.
• Excellent communication and financial reporting skills for diverse stakeholders.

• High attention to detail and ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
• Strong integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial data.
