We welcome diverse perspectives, opinions, and ideas.Job purpose: The primary role of this position is to lead Generation Kenya’s efforts to generate revenue and secure funding from donors, foundations, corporations, and government entities in order to maximize the organization’s impact including developing and sustaining high-level funder and government relationships. He/she will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies and initiatives that align with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. The role holder will also be responsible for overseeing grant management. This includes but is not limited to timely high-quality report writing aligned with donor requirements and ensuring key grant management systems, processes and policies are in place / updated.Overall, the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships plays a critical role in ensuring the financial sustainability of GPK, and in supporting the organization’s mission to make a positive impact on society. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU’LL NEED:Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Marketing, Business Administration, social sciences, Non-profit Management, or Communications is preferred. A master’s degree in a relevant field would be an advantage.A minimum of 10 years’ experience in fundraising and stakeholder management.A strong understanding of partnerships, funding and grant compliance and requirements of various public and private donors (corporate donors, private foundations, foreign governments, multilateral and international non-governmental organizations).At least five years of fundraising experience in a non-profit organization or a similar environment is usually required.This experience should include managing major grants, creating and implementing successful fundraising strategies and writing successful grant proposals.In-depth knowledge of various fundraising strategies and techniques, such as major grant fundraising and grant writing.Have a deep understanding of partnerships and collaborations with organizations, individuals, and corporations.This includes identifying potential partners, developing partnerships, and building and maintaining relationships.Communication skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong writing skills.Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and manage a team, as well as to work collaboratively with other departments within the organization.Strong analytical skills to assess the effectiveness of fundraising strategies, analyzing donor data, and making informed decisions about fundraising initiatives.Proficiency in using fundraising and donor management software, social media platforms, and other online tools. Skills And Abilities Excellent project management and organizational skills, and extensive experience strategizing and planning.Embody values and understand the future challenges and opportunities for youth empowerment and is passionate about creating an impact in Kenya’s employment ecosystem.Experience in youth development is desirable.Ability to explain complex ideas in easily accessible ways tailored to different audiences.Be adaptable/flexible in order to respond to a fast-changing environment.Strong project management skills.Proactive and able to make decisions based on business metrics and data. Other requirements Ability to travel frequently within Kenya, and potential occasional travel in the region and internationally. WHAT YOU’LL DO:Fundraising Developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan that incorporates diverse multi-year fundraising streams. This would include but not limited to bilateral and multilateral organizations as well as corporate partnerships.Leading the writing of proposals and key fundraising documentation.Identifying and cultivating relationships with potential donors and partners whose interest align with Generation Kenya. This includes maintaining ongoing communication and engagement with both current and high-potential funding partners.Leading and supervising the partnerships team by providing guidance, support, and mentorship to help them achieve Generation Kenya’s fundraising targets.Collaborating with other local and global Generation colleagues such as marketing, communications, partnerships, business development & innovation, finance and risk to ensure that fundraising efforts are aligned with organizational goals and messaging.Monitoring and analyzing fundraising data and performance metrics and using this information to make informed decisions about fundraising strategies and tactics.Developing and managing budgets for fundraising activities and ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to maximize return on investment.Stakeholder ManagementIdentify stakeholders who are critical to Generation Kenya’s mission and goals. These include, but are not limited to, youth beneficiaries, government agencies, and other NGOs.Develop a stakeholder engagement strategy to engage with these stakeholders. This could include regular meetings, communication strategies, and other forms of engagement.Build relationships with stakeholders, which involves gaining their trust and confidence. This could involve building connections with key individuals, demonstrating your commitment to the organization’s mission, and providing regular updates on the organization’s activities.Monitor stakeholder sentiment to understand how they feel about the organization and its activities. This could involve gathering feedback through surveys, focus groups, or other methods, and using this information to make improvements or changes to the organization’s strategy.Manage conflicts between different stakeholders. This could involve identifying common ground, negotiating solutions, and communicating effectively to ensure all stakeholders feel heard and valued.Represent Generation Kenya at key convenings. It is important to represent the organization in a professional manner and to communicate effectively to build positive relationships with stakeholders. Grant Management Oversee the design and execution of an institutional grant management system to manage and support the donor requirements.Oversee the reporting to ensure quality reports are submitted to funders and other key stakeholders in a timely manner.In liaison with the FM, analyse budget trends and make recommendations for cost control and reduction for various grants.Continuous Improvement and Team ManagementProblem-solving key fundraising and partnership management with relevant functions to ensure successful achievement of organizational goals.Support the professional growth of the fundraising and partnership team.
