Operated by Latia Agribusiness Solutions, LAI works closely with agripreneurs, employers, and industry stakeholders to ensure graduates are well-equipped to succeed in agribusiness across the region.Job SummaryThe Head of Institute / Administrative Dean will be responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction and operational management of Latia Agripreneurship Institute. This role combines academic leadership with administrative oversight to ensure high standards in training delivery, compliance with accreditation requirements, staff development, and alignment with industry needs.In addition, the role includes leading the design, construction, and implementation of a modern agricultural institute campus, including a new administrative block, lecture rooms, boarding facilities, and sports infrastructure. The successful candidate will champion innovation, sustainability, and excellence in both academic and infrastructural development to support LAI’s mission to make it easy to do agribusiness anywhere.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic LeadershipProvide visionary leadership and set the strategic direction of the Institute in line with Latia’s overall mission.Develop and implement long-term plans to position LAI as a leading agricultural TVET institution.Lead the planning and development of the new LAI campus and infrastructure in alignment with institutional growth plans.Academic &Training OversightOversee curriculum development and ensure all training programs meet national accreditation standards and industryrelevance.Promote experiential and competency-based learning methodologies that align with agribusiness realities.Infrastructure DevelopmentOversee the design, construction, and implementation of key institutional infrastructure, including a modern administrative block, new lecture rooms, boarding block, and sports facilities.Collaborate with architects, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure infrastructure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.Ensure all facilities support the academic, administrative, and extracurricular goals of the Institute.Develop and implement infrastructure-related policies, maintenance plans, and sustainability practices.Operations &AdministrationLead the day-to-day operations of the Institute, including staff supervision, budgeting, and resource management.Ensure compliance with all government regulations, TVET authority requirements, and institutional policies.Industry &Stakeholder EngagementStrengthen partnerships with agribusinesses, employers, government bodies, NGOs, and development partners.Develop and manage internship, apprenticeship, and job placement programs for graduates.Team Leadership &DevelopmentRecruit, mentor, and manage a qualified and motivated faculty and administrative team.Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning among staff and students.Quality Assurance &MonitoringImplement and monitor quality assurance systems for teaching, assessments, institutional performance, and infrastructure projects.Conduct regular evaluations and reports to improve effectiveness and efficiency.Qualifications &ExperienceMaster’s degree in Agriculture, Education, Agribusiness, Project Management, or a related field (PhD is an added advantage).At least 10 years of experience in educational leadership, preferably within a TVET or agricultural college or university.Deep understanding of Kenya’s TVET system and relevant accreditation frameworks (e.g., TVETA, KNEC, CDACC).Strong background in agribusiness, agricultural training, or rural development.Proven experience in staff management, curriculum development, and stakeholder engagement.Key CompetenciesStrategic thinking and leadershipStrong interpersonal and communication skillsProject management and infrastructure developmentProblem-solving and decision-makingResults-driven and goal-orientedFinancial and operational managementCollaborative and student-centered approach
