Job role
The Sales & Marketing Representative will be responsible for driving sales volumes, managing distributor relationships, and executing marketing strategies for wheat flour, maize flour, and sugar products. You will serve as the primary point of contact for wholesalers, retailers, and key accounts across the Nyanza region.
Academic
& Professional Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Business Management, sales & Marketing or any related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of active experience in sales and marketing within the FMCG sector.
Technical
Skills
- Expertise in designing and
executing efficient distribution paths for high-turnover commodities
like flour and sugar.
- Proven
ability to manage "sell-out" by ensuring products move
from the distributor’s warehouse to the retail shelf.
- Knowledge
of optimal shelf placement and visibility techniques specifically
for bulky FMCG goods (5kg, 10kg, 24kg, and 50kg bags).
- Proficiency
in monitoring stock levels, identifying slow-moving SKUs, and
managing "First-In, First-Out" (FIFO) to prevent spoilage
or expiration of flour products.
- Technical
understanding of managing credit limits for wholesalers and ensuring
timely collections within the trade.
- Ability
to use geographic and demographic data to identify "white
spaces" (unserved areas) within the Nyanza regional trade
corridors
Responsibilities
& Requirements
- Achieve
and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets for flour
(maize/wheat) and sugar categories.
- Identify
and onboard new distributors and retail outlets within Kisumu and
surrounding Nyanza counties.
- Maintain
and strengthen relationships with existing key accounts,
wholesalers, and supermarkets.
- Monitor
competitor activities, pricing trends, and consumer preferences
specifically within the Nyanza regional market.
- Coordinate
and execute below-the-line (BTL) marketing activities, including
merchandising, activations, and point-of-sale (POS) material
placement.
- Provide detailed weekly reports on sales performance, market challenges, and stock levels.
