Job Description/Requirements
The client is seeking a Sales Supervisor – GT, the ideal candidate is a results-driven sales professional with strong leadership skills and a proven track record in managing General Trade (GT) sales within the FMCG industry. They should possess excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical abilities, with the capacity to lead and motivate field sales teams toward achieving aggressive sales targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement sales plans and strategies to achieve agreed sales volume, budget, and profitability targets across all product categories, including maize meal, rice, and future product lines.
- Set and monitor daily sales targets for assigned sales territories, route sales representatives, distributors, and other GT channels.
- Train, coach, and motivate the field sales team to enhance performance, efficiency, and capability.
- Develop and maintain an effective Route-to-Market (RTM) model to ensure optimal product availability and strong distributor partnerships.
- Conduct regular sales meetings and training sessions to promote volume growth, product loyalty, and harmony among distributors through proper territory management.
- Deliver superior customer service by ensuring client needs and expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
- Identify marketing and promotional needs, recommend initiatives, and evaluate results to support market growth and brand visibility.
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and tactics, and provide timely reports and recommendations to management.
- Ensure adherence to the company’s credit policy, manage debtors within agreed limits, and support effective credit control in collaboration with the finance team.
- Oversee the proper use and maintenance of company assets, including vehicles, cash registers, and sales support materials.
- Track and minimize market returns, losses, and damages through effective monitoring and reporting systems.
- Administer and facilitate timely payment of sales team performance bonuses in liaison with the MD and the Accountant.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Managing Director.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, Marketing, or a related field.
- Professional sales or marketing qualification (e.g., CIM) is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales, operations, or distribution within the FMCG sector — preferably in flour food products.
- Experience managing customer service operations in a manufacturing environment is an added advantage.
