Social Media Operations Specialist
Job summary
We are looking for a creative and results-driven Social Media Operations Specialist to join our team in Kenya. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and growing the company’s presence across platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp Business.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the company’s social media accounts in Kenya, including TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp Business.
- Develop content and promotional plans based on Kenyan culture, local trends, and the preferences of target audiences.
- Independently handle short-video production, including topic selection, scriptwriting, filming, editing, subtitling, and publishing.
- Use smartphones, cameras, stabilizers, lighting, and audio equipment effectively, with a good understanding of composition, camera movement, lighting, sound recording, and interviews.
- Use video editing and design tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Canva.
- Produce promotional videos, brand stories, customer testimonials, and event coverage.
- Plan and execute local social media promotion through trending topics, online communities, influencer/KOL partnerships, and paid advertising.
- Monitor views, engagement, follower growth, and conversion data, and continuously improve content and promotional strategies.
- Follow Kenyan news, holidays, cultural trends, and competitor activities to increase local brand awareness.
- Work closely with the marketing, sales, and events teams on online and offline promotional activities.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Film Production, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in social media management, short-form video production, or video editing is required. Successful account-management examples or a strong portfolio will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of the Kenyan market, local culture, audience preferences, and social media habits.
- Ability to independently plan, film, edit, and publish video content.
- Strong English communication and copywriting skills. Swahili proficiency is preferred, and Chinese-language ability is an added advantage.
- Strong awareness of social media trends, with good creative planning and copywriting abilities.
- Good visual judgment, communication skills, execution skills, and teamwork.
- Willingness to travel locally for filming and work flexible hours when required.
- Applicants should provide samples of short videos, photography work, or social media accounts they have managed.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience managing TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube accounts.
- Familiarity with Kenyan influencers and local media resources.
- Experience with paid advertising, livestream operations, or e-commerce content promotion.
- Ability to appear on camera, conduct interviews, or create subtitles in English and Swahili.
