Our client hosts high-end trade shows, conferences, and workshops in East and Central Africa, focusing on the Textile and Fashion industry. They are seeking a creative, strategic, and media-savvy Social Media and PR Executive to boost engagement, brand awareness, and enhance the public image of their exhibitions portfolio.

Job Description/Requirements
The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating compelling content, managing all social media channels, and handling public relations initiatives that support the success and visibility of our events.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media
- Develop and implement social media strategies tailored to each exhibition’s goals and target audience.
- Manage day-to-day content planning, creation, scheduling, and publishing across platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, etc.).
- Monitor and respond to social media activity, engaging with followers and stakeholders in a timely, professional manner.
- Collaborate with graphic designers, videographers, and other creative to produce high-quality, on-brand content.
- Track, analyse, and report on performance metrics (reach, engagement, conversion) to optimize campaigns.
- Execute live social media coverage during events, including live posting, stories, and Behind-the-scenes content.
Public Relations
- Craft press releases, media alerts, and pitch documents to promote exhibitions and secure media coverage.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, influencers, and media outlets in relevant industries.
- Coordinate press attendance, press kits, and media centres for exhibitions.
- Monitor press and media coverage, compiling reports and clipping files post-event.
- Identify and leverage PR opportunities such as interviews, features, and speaking engagements for event stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in social media and/or PR, preferably in the events, exhibitions, or B2B space.
- Proficiency in social media tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Hoot suite, Buffer), and analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with media databases and PR tools (e.g., Meltwater, Cision) is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Creative, proactive, and confident communicator with a flair for brand voice and digital trends.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
