About Nature Nex Ltd

Nature Nex Ltd is a pioneering environmental compliance and sustainability solutions company, working with Kenya’s leading maize millers to transition  to sustainable laminate packaging. Through our Green Points Take-Back Scheme, recycling partnerships, and compliance programs with NEMA and KEBS, we are building Kenya’s first large-scale Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) for flexible packaging.

We are seeking a Sustainability & EPR Program Manager to lead this flagship initiative.

Role Position

· Title: Sustainability & Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Program Manager

· Reports to: Director, Nature Nex Ltd

· Location: Nairobi, with nationwide scope (travel required)

· Contract: Full-time, permanent

Role Description

This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of Nature Nex’s EPR/Green Points project. The Program Manager will:

· Oversee compliance and approvals with NEMA and KEBS.

· Establish and manage Nature Nex as Kenya’s official Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO).

· Develop and implement the Green Points Take-Back Scheme across millers, retailers, and consumers.

· Build partnerships with licensed recyclers, collection partners, packaging auditors, and government agencies.

· Run awareness and education campaigns for millers, consumers, and other stakeholders.

· Manage data reporting: material input/output tracking, government EPR fee reporting, and miller fee billing.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting

o Lead NEMA and KEBS certification processes.

o Prepare and submit statutory compliance reports (waste volumes, recycling rates, EPR fees).

2. Green Points Program Management

o Roll out the “Collect • Return • Earn” scheme (Kusanya • Rudisha • Lipwa).

o Oversee setup of collection points in key cities.

o Integrate Green Points into eCitizen platform.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

o Partner with millers, retailers, recyclers, county governments, and auditors.

o Conduct education/awareness campaigns for millers and consumers.

4. Operations & Data Management

o Track laminate material volumes (input/output).

o Manage PRO financial flows (collection, recycling, government fee remittance).

5. Team & Reporting

o Supervise project teams, consultants, and service providers.

o Report monthly progress and KPIs directly to the Director.

Qualifications & Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Supply Chain, Industrial Management, or related field.

· Postgraduate qualification in Sustainability, EPR, or Environmental Compliance preferred.

· Minimum 7+ years of experience in waste management, sustainability, packaging, or compliance.

· Strong knowledge of Kenya’s NEMA/KEBS regulations and familiarity with global EPR frameworks.

· Proven experience in stakeholder management (government, private sector, NGOs).

· Project management certification (PMP, Prince2, or equivalent) an added advantage.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

1. Compliance:

o Successful registration of Nature Nex Ltd as an official PRO within 12 months.

o 100% compliance with NEMA and KEBS reporting requirements.

2. Green Points Rollout:

o Launch of at least 3 city collection schemes in Year 1.

o Onboarding of 70% of major maize millers into the scheme by end of Year 2.

3. Stakeholder Engagement:

o Signed MOUs with at least 3 licensed recyclers and 5 county governments in Year 1.

o Execution of 4+ public awareness campaigns annually.

4. Operational Impact:

o Accurate reporting of monthly input/output material flows (100 tons/month baseline).

o Collection and recycling of at least 50% of laminate packaging placed on market in Year 2.

5. Financial Accountability:

o Timely invoicing and collection of miller fees.

o Transparent reporting and remittance of government EPR fees.
