Location: The Nairobi Japanese School (Karen)
Employment Type: Full-time (3-month probation period; renewable annually based on performance evaluation)
Working Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.
Salary: KSh 35,000 – 60,000 (commensurate with experience)
Position Overview
The Nairobi Japanese School in Karen is seeking a dedicated, highly responsible educator to instruct our Primary and Junior High School students (Grades 1–9). The ideal candidate is an energetic professional capable of teaching English to Japanese students. This role requires a strong team player who can seamlessly adapt to a Japanese style curriculum and thrive in our unique school culture.
Key Responsibilities
● Develop and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to students with beginner-level proficiency across Grades 1 to 9.
● Provide comprehensive Art instruction as integrated into the curriculum.
● Collaborate effectively with Japanese teaching staff, demonstrating a willingness to follow directions and adopt school-specific methodologies.
● Uphold and respect school rules, discipline, and high professional ethics at all times.
● Participate in and support school events, which will occasionally require weekend availability.
Required Qualifications (Mandatory)
● Hold a valid Diploma P1 Teacher certification.
● Active Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration.
● A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience.
● Proven experience teaching beginner-level English to children.
● Demonstrated ability to teach English.
● Ability to communicate in basic Japanese for everyday conversation.
● Current residence strictly within a one-hour commuting distance to the Karen campus.
● A valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
