Job Summary

We are seeking a highly driven and commercially astute Business Development Officer with deep knowledge of the Asian market and MANDARIN fluency (MANDARIN IS A MUST). The ideal candidate will have strong networks among Asian importers and exporters operating in Kenya.

Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Client Acquisition & Relationship Management

  • Identify, prospect, and onboard Asian importers and exporters operating in Kenya.
  • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with business owners, traders, and financial institutions.
  • Develop tailored solutions for clients across cross-border payments, FX, and settlement services.

Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Generate strong sales pipelines and deliver on revenue and client acquisition targets.
  • Negotiate and close high-value deals across payments, FX, and liquidity services.
  • Ensure seamless onboarding and provide exceptional post-acquisition support.

Market Expansion & Strategic Partnerships

  • Leverage deep market knowledge to identify strategic partnership opportunities.
  • Represent the company at Asian business events, trade shows, and fintech forums.
  • Provide insights on emerging trends, regulations, and competitive landscape affecting Asian trade.

Reporting, Compliance & Forecasting

  • Maintain accurate CRM records and track all business development activities.
  • Prepare regular performance reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates.
  • Ensure all engagements follow internal policies and regulatory requirements.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 6–8 years of proven experience in sales, business development, or consulting.
  • Strong exposure to Asian business communities in Kenya (Chinese, Indian, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of Asian import/export dynamics and established networks.
  • Strong B2B sales experience with a track record of closing high-value deals.
  • Knowledge of cross-border payments, FX, or fintech products is a strong advantage.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin (MANDARIN IS A MUST) — additional Asian languages (Hindi, Gujarati, etc.) are an added advantage.
