Job summary
We are looking for a General Manager on behalf of our client in Media will provide strategic and operational leadership for the client organisation’s media business, driving audience growth, revenue generation, profitability, operational excellence, and high-quality content across television, radio, and digital platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
- Develop and implement the organisation’s overall media strategy and growth plans in line with business objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities, emerging media trends, and potential areas for revenue diversification.
- Drive audience growth and strengthen the organisation’s competitive position across TV, radio, and digital platforms.
- Develop and implement initiatives that enhance the organisation’s market presence, brand value, and commercial performance.
- Monitor industry developments and leverage emerging technologies and changing consumer behaviour to drive innovation.
B. Media Operations Management
- Provide overall leadership and oversight of daily media operations across television, radio, and digital platforms.
- Ensure efficient coordination between editorial, programming, production, commercial, marketing, digital, and support functions.
- Establish operational standards and systems that promote efficiency, quality, and accountability.
- Ensure that media operations are aligned with organisational strategy, policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
C. Revenue Generation & Commercial Growth
- Lead the development and execution of revenue-generation strategies across all media platforms.
- Drive advertising sales, sponsorships, strategic partnerships, content commercialisation, and other monetisation opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with advertisers, agencies, strategic partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to grow existing revenue streams while developing new commercial models.
- Monitor revenue performance and take corrective action where targets are not being achieved.
D. Financial & P&L Management
- Take overall responsibility for the financial performance of the media business.
- Develop and manage annual budgets in line with organisational objectives.
- Monitor revenue, expenditure, profitability, and overall financial performance.
- Ensure effective resource allocation and cost-control measures.
- Provide regular financial and performance reports to senior management/Board.
- Drive initiatives aimed at improving profitability and long-term financial sustainability.
E. Content & Brand Management
- Provide strategic oversight of content development and programming across TV, radio, and digital platforms.
- Ensure content meets required standards of quality, relevance, consistency, and audience appeal.
- Ensure consistency in brand positioning and messaging across all media platforms.
- Promote innovative content formats that respond to audience preferences and market trends.
- Ensure compliance with applicable media, broadcasting, advertising, copyright, and regulatory requirements.
F. Leadership & People Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing media team.
- Establish clear performance expectations, KPIs, and accountability mechanisms.
- Build a strong culture of innovation, collaboration, professionalism, and performance.
- Identify talent gaps and support recruitment, succession planning, coaching, and employee development.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration across departments.
- Manage senior-level staff and provide leadership on organisational and operational matters.
G. Digital Transformation & Innovation
- Drive the organisation’s digital transformation agenda and integration of traditional and digital media.
- Develop strategies for digital audience growth and engagement.
- Explore new digital platforms, technologies, content formats, and revenue opportunities.
- Lead initiatives focused on digital content monetisation and multi-platform content distribution.
- Use audience insights, analytics, and market data to inform programming and commercial decisions.
H. Stakeholder & External Relations
- Represent the organisation at industry forums, strategic meetings, conferences, and other relevant engagements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, regulators, clients, partners, and media networks.
- Negotiate and manage strategic partnerships that contribute to business growth.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the media ecosystem and build networks that enhance organisational opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEAcademic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Media, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or an equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
Professional Experience
- 10–15+ years of progressive experience in broadcasting, media, communications, or digital media.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership position, such as General Manager, Chief Operating Officer, Director, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience managing P&L, budgets, revenue generation, and business growth.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful media or commercial strategies.
- Strong experience in TV, radio, digital media, or an integrated multi-platform media environment.
- Demonstrated experience in digital transformation, audience development, and content monetisation.
