The Head of Preschool is a key leadership position responsible for the overall management, curriculum, safety, and operational success of the preschool program. This role involves balancing administrative duties, staff supervision, and a commitment to high-quality early childhood education.

Job Description/Requirements

Core Responsibilities
Academic Leadership & Curriculum:
Develop, implement, and evaluate the age-appropriate curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of all students and aligns with national/state standards and the school’s educational philosophy.
Oversee the quality of instruction and ensure the use of developmentally appropriate practices in all classrooms.
Monitor and evaluate the teaching process and student learning outcomes.
Staff Management & Development:
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all preschool teaching and administrative staff.
Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and mentoring to promote high performance and a positive work environment.
Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities and regular staff meetings.
Administration & Operations:
Oversee the daily operations of the preschool, including scheduling, classroom management, and enrollment processes.
Develop and manage the preschool budget, handling fiscal responsibilities like tuition collection and resource purchasing.
Manage student admissions and enrolment.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure the facility and programs comply with all licensing regulations, health and safety requirements, and other relevant local, state, or national laws.
Implement and oversee health and safety programs, including emergency procedures.
Community & Parent Engagement:
Serve as the primary point of communication for parents, addressing concerns and providing updates on student progress and school activities.
Foster a collaborative and positive community environment among staff, students, and parents.
Plan and execute school events and extracurricular activities.

Instruction & Curriculum Delivery:

Plan, prepare, and deliver daily lessons and educational activities aligned with the preschool's curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices.

Implement effective classroom management techniques to ensure an orderly, positive, and engaging learning atmosphere.

Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.

Child Development & Assessment:

Observe, assess, and document children's growth and progress across all developmental domains (cognitive, physical, social, emotional).

Use assessment data to inform lesson planning and set individual learning goals.

Address individual student needs, including behavioral challenges, in consultation with the Head of Preschool and parents.

Classroom Environment & Safety:

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets health, safety, and licensing standards.

Ensure constant supervision of children during class, on the playground, and during all activities.

Parent & Staff Communication:

Establish and maintain open, regular communication with parents regarding their child's daily activities, progress, and any concerns.

Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.

Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants, co-teachers, and the Head of Preschool.


Professional Development:

Participate in required staff meetings and professional development training to stay current with best practices in Early Childhood Education (ECE).


Professional Experience and Certification ● Proven experience in an early childhood education teaching for 3 years or more. ● Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership or administrative role within a preschool. ● Must have TSC ● Diploma or Degree in ECDE ● Current First Aid certification.
