Employment Details
- Location: The Nairobi Japanese School (Karen)
- Employment Type: Full-time (3-month probation
period; renewable annually)
- Contract renewal is determined each year based on performance evaluation. Contracts may not be renewed if work attitude or job performance is insufficient.
- Working Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.
- Salary: KSh 35,000 – 60,000 (based on experience)
- Bonus: None
- Transportation Allowance: Provided
- Days Off: Generally weekends (may require work during school events)
- Annual Leave: 21 days

Applicants must hold a valid teaching qualification for primary and/or secondary education.
Position Overview
The Nairobi Japanese School in Karen is seeking one English teacher who can also teach music for Grades 1–9 (Primary and Junior High School).
We are looking for candidates who can teach Japanese students with beginner-level English and adapt to the Japanese-style curriculum and school culture. Applicants should have at least three years of teaching experience.
Required Qualifications (All must be met)
- Bachelor of Education (4-year university degree)
- Valid TSC registration (TSC number must be stated on CV)
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience
- Experience teaching beginner-level English
- Ability to teach both music and English
- Ability to teach music theory and practical skills
- Ability to cooperate with and follow directions from Japanese teachers
- Adaptability to Japanese-style curriculum and school culture
- Strong sense of responsibility and discipline
- Certificate of Good Conduct
- Contact details of two referees
- Residence within one hour commuting distance to The Nairobi Japanese School (Karen)
- Ability to communicate in basic Japanese for everyday conversation
Preferred Qualifications
- Piano performance ability (please indicate on CV)
- Experience organizing or directing school concerts or performances
- Experience teaching in international or multicultural environments
