Job Summary
Position Summary: The Accountant is responsible for the implementation of the Sacco’s finance strategy to support strategic objectives of efficiency, cost-effectiveness and motivated staff. S/he is charged with ensuring that the Sacco’s financial control and regulation are adhered to. Maintaining financial control and improving efficiency in records of all transaction and reporting of financial data in accordance with International Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards.

Job Description/Requirements
i. Produce financial statements including profit & loss, budgets, cash flows, monthly management accounts and variance analysis.
ii. Produce the annual budget of the Sacco.
iii. Provide management reporting for decision making, including projects appraisal, evaluation and post implementation analysis.
iv. Ensures purchase order are prepared in liaison with the finance manager and circulated to respective suppliers and ensures appropriate specification document are maintained.
v. Institute procurement procedures as per the Sacco procurement policy.
vi. Review all supplier invoices for appropriate documentation (delivery notes are, LPOs) and approval by finance manager prior to posting into database.
vii. Ensures suppliers files and documentation are thoroughly and accurately maintained
viii. Ensure reconciliation of vendor statements and resolve and correct any invoice discrepancies.
ix. Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
x. Reviewing vouchers and entries from accounts payable, stock movement and ensure their accuracy in the accounting system.
xi. Responsible for managing month-end cut off process for Accounts Payables and stocks.
xii. Participate Sacco budget process making and review.
xiii. To ensure that work is performed in accordance with Sacco processes and procedures and to refer to finance manager for guidance as required.
xiv. To suggest changes to internal controls and procedures as identified and be involved in the continuous improvement and development of processes.
xv. Liaises with finance manager to solve day to day accounting operational issues.
xvi. Management of direct reports, motivation as well as succession planning and performance management.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Studies and CPA -K
2. 3 years of general accounting experience required in a Regulated Sacco
3. Member of ICPAK
4. Proficient in relevant computer applications.
5. Ability to manage, delegate, motivate, monitor, and control team activity.
6. Attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Decision-making skills.
8. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Negotiation skills.
10. ICT certification.
11. Good understanding of procurement procedures and regulations.

CONSTITUTION

be presented before the appointment stage for a successful candidate:
a) Police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct).
b) Clearance certificate from Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
