Job Title: Accountant

Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Bookkeeping
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Manage and maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring proper recording of income and expenses.
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor company cash flow and liquidity.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and payments.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
2. Budgeting & Financial Planning
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
• Monitor budget execution and provide regular variance analysis and recommendations.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
3. Tax & Statutory Compliance
• Ensure full compliance with Kenyan tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, and other statutory obligations.
• Prepare and file statutory returns and ensure timely remittances to relevant authorities.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax officials during audits and inspections.
4. Payroll & Staff Deductions
• Process and manage monthly payroll, including calculation of statutory deductions and net salaries.
• Ensure accurate and timely filing of payroll-related statutory returns.
5. Accounting Systems & Process Improvement
• Maintain and optimize use of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP) to ensure efficient finance processes.
• Recommend improvements to existing accounting systems and processes for greater accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure the security and confidentiality of all financial records.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA II/III qualification or equivalent is mandatory.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, ERP) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws, statutory compliance, and IFRS/GAAP accounting standards.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills (Added Advantage)
• Experience working in recruitment or professional services industries.
• Knowledge of payroll systems and HR accounting processes.
• Familiarity with financial analysis and budget management tools
