Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUH, N) is a private not-for-profit teaching hospital that provides tertiary and secondary level healthcare services. It is one of the hospitals in East Africa accredited by the Joint Commission International from USA. The University Hospital has been providing high quality care for the people of East Africa and beyond for over 60 years.
The Aga Khan University Hospital also has an Outreach Division, which is a rapidly growing network of about 50 medical centers spread over East Africa. These medical centers feature three to five consulting rooms with a practice that is home to specialists, qualified medical officers, highly experienced nurses and constant reception cover. The clinics offer an on-site pharmacy and laboratory as well as imaging services. There is high expectation for staff to provide high quality professional services.
Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the above position based in Nairobi Kenya. The position holder will report to the Treasury Coordinator with dotted line to Finance Manager, Financial Control Department in Finance Division.
Maintain treasury accounting function for AKUH, N by ensuring efficient use of available cash flow, maintaining bank reconciliations, investment management and assist finance manager in internal and external audits.
Â·Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all hospital banks reconciliations to be submitted for review as per KPIs.
Â·Ensure that all reconciling items in bank reconciliations as well as cash control accounts are followed up and closed on before the following month.
Letters of credit
Â·Prepare and review, in a timely manner, letters of credit and bank guarantees as requested by internal users.
Compliance and Documentation
Â·Ensure strict compliance with 3rd party covenants as well as internal policies and set financial regulations.
Â·Maintain proper accurate records for all internal and external correspondence regarding treasury functions.
Payment by Corporate Credit Cards
Â·Check documentation as per corporate credit card policy, allocate the expense account then have the voucher signed off.
Daily cash and investment management
Â·Monitor and maintain daily cash report and circulate the same.
Â·Manage cash flow by ensuring adequate liquidity for processing all institution obligations.
Â·Manage short and long-term investments to maximize returns.
Â·Preparation of periodical cash flow report
Â·Evaluate investment opportunities with bankers as well as CBK and recommend to Finance Manager
End month GL closing activities.
Â·Offer supervisory role in treasury by assisting Finance Manager in active participation of end month closing activities relating to Treasury by ensuring that all JVs and transactions are accurately recorded by closure of the month.
Â·Prepare audit schedules and ensure these are ready for annual audits.
Â·Retrieve files for review by auditors as may be requested by the audit team.
Â·Answer audit queries asked by the auditors during the field audit
Assist the finance manager and other accounting colleagues with accounting duties as allocated to you.
Qualifications and skills requirements:
Â·Professional training ACCA / CPA (K)
Â·Bachelorâs degree in accounting and finance
Â·Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in a similar role.
