This role is remote and can be done in any location within a 3-hour time zone difference from East Africa. The role has a global remit and supervises the finance teams of each operating entity.

Job Description/Requirements
1. Overall responsible and accountable for the Corporate Finance Function across the NEI Group of Companies, including the managing and supervising in-country teams, contractors and service providers who conduct financial accounting and financial management for the companies; this includes branches, subsidiaries and holding companies (both domestic and foreign), and complying with Singapore and International Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS and IFRS) and the local laws of each jurisdiction.
2. Responsible for developing, implementing, and continually improving the internal financial processes, controls, policies and procedures of the company.
3. Ensure the finance team delivers value to each department of the company, including ensuring that the finance team is well represented within cross-functional processes.
4. Oversee reporting and monitoring of financial performance metrics at all levels (departmental, corporate, shareholders, creditors, donors, etc).
5. Manage compliance with internal financial policies and controls, including oversight of, and compliance with, annual budgets, loans (incl. covenants), shareholder rights, grants, financial reporting, financial forecasting, tax matters, regulatory matters (e.g., anti-fraud, anti-money laundering), etc.
6. Advising the CEO and the Board of Directors on related matters; participate as a member and secretary of the Board Audit & Risk Committee (ARC).
7. Ensure efficient management and utilisation of resources in accordance with applicable corporate, shareholder, financier, and donor policies and procedures, this will include but not be limited to:
- Ensure good value-for-money and cost-effectiveness, across all aspects of the company;
- Proper budgeting, expenditures tracking and audit of financial resources in accordance with investors/donors rules and regulations;
- Compliance with investor/donor rules, government regulations and policies, international accounting standards, and internal corporate policies and procedures, as relates to financial matters, including:
- Financial accounting and management, asset management (incl. fixed asset register), inventory management (and stock audits), risk management, etc.
- Fiscal reporting including revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, taxation and statutory reports.
- Supervise country finance teams to manage their in-country activities:
- Managing relationships with banks and revenue authorities (e.g., TRA, URA, IRAS);
- Managing financial assets (e.g., fixed assets and inventory management, including monthly reconciliations and ad hoc checks) and company investments;
- Managing payments (incl. payroll and consultant payments, and regulatory payments), and managing receivables (incl. customer invoices);
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements/reports (including monthly management accounts and cash flow forecasts for the management team/heads of department, Board of Directors and quarterly accounts for shareholders);
- Preparing audited financial statements and leading the external audit process;
- Actively managing and pre-empting corporate risk, inclusive of insurance;
- Staying abreast of the regulatory landscape across all jurisdictions, including monitoring the official Government Gazettes;
- Improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of the company’s and finance team’s objectives, including IT/ERP and AI workflow automation, preparing and updating finance manuals, etc.
8. Direct oversight of the treasury function: cash and liquidity management, imprest systems, risk assessment, financier relationship management, review of transactions, security for cash assets on site, etc.
9. Monitor exception reports for unusual activities, transactions, and investigates anomalies, unusual transactions, or breaches/lapses of internal controls.
Desired skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting.
Years of Experience: At least 8+ years of experience in a related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
1. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, able to relate to multiple foreign cultures, and manage people effectively in difficult circumstances.
2. Must have experience in managing accounts and related financial data on accounting packages like ERPNext, Quickbooks, Tally, SAP,etc
3. Must have experience in handling inventory
4. Experience in manufacturing accounting and in production companies will be an added advantage.
5. Other accounting experience should include one or more of: payroll, internal controls, payments, and tax compliance.
6. Experience in a leadership role will be an added advantage.
7. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both oral and written
8. Ability to work independently (to prioritise, multi-task, and resolve problems), with limited supervision, and to deliver tasks accurately and on time.
9. Must be highly skilled in computer productivity packages such as Microsoft Office and Google G Suite (e.g., Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets) and ERPNext systems.
10. Ability to uphold confidentiality of sensitive information.
