The Graduate School of Media and Communications, the East African Institute, the Institute for Human Development and the Kiswahili Centre have been launched recently while several Graduate Professional Schools and Faculties of Arts and Sciences are to be set up in Pakistan and East Africa.Job Summary This role will support the SPARK study (SuPporting African communities to increase the Resilience and mental health of Kids with developmental disorders and their caregivers).The purpose of this assignment is to provide diagnostic assessment and clinical care for children screened for developmental disabilities in the catchment areas of the SPARK study.The successful candidate will be hired on a short term staggered contract and will operate from the health facilities in the SPARK research catchment area (Informal settlements of Dagoretti and Ruaraka sub-counties). He/she shall report to the Principal Investigator and other senior project team members. Responsibilities Conduct clinical diagnostic verification of children assessed by frontline workers for developmental disabilities within SPARK research catchment areas;Assist with provision of clinical care to children assessed;Provide information, education and support to families or guardians on developmental disabilities and management;Increase caregiver awareness on developmental disabilities and management;Ensure adherence to standard operating protocols and ethical regulations of the SPARK study;Effective communication and coordination with health and research teams; andTimely submission of study records and reports. Requirements Diploma in Clinical Medicine and registered with the Clinical Officers Council; additional training in mental health and psychiatry is an added advantageAt least 2 years’ experience in clinical care or research studies;Demonstrated experience in providing clinical services and the management of children with neurological/mental health and developmental disorders.Training in Good Clinical Practice. Certification of online courses such as TRREE and NIH is highly recommended;Able to work extra hours when needed and with minimal supervision;Able to work with vulnerable populations such as those with neurological or mental health disorders;High levels of integrity and confidentiality; andTeamwork with the ability to work with diverse teams.
