Finance Manager
Job Purpose
The Finance Manager is responsible for the financial management function of the Company through planning, managing and optimizing financial resources. The incumbent is tasked with ensuring smooth financial operations of the organization through implementing proper controls, cash flows management, financial commitments whilst reporting to the Director in a timely and accurate manner.
Key Duties/ Responsibilities
1. Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely periodical accounting and management reports and present these to the management team and follow up the implementation of related action plans.
2. Maintain custody of the company financial records, prepare and present financial reports as per the timelines and ensure that these are line with best practice;
3. Manage the preparation of the company’s budget by providing insights on financial forecasting, budgets planning and consolidation of various inputs and reporting;
4. Take charge of all tax matters, keeping up to date with latest developments and ensuring compliance thus avoiding penalties.
5. Develop reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs;
6. Develop forecasts for all key financial matters including: cash, expenses and profits. Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts as required;
7. Streamline an effective costing process, and continuously review it so as to improve the efficiency;
8. Develop and implement optimal financial controls, policies and procedures across the company ensuring adherence to safeguard company resources;
9. Provide recommendations to management that enhance financial performance and business opportunities – areas of improvement and costs control;
10. Enhance and enforce financial policies and procedures, statutory and regulatory requirements by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Company.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
• Bachelors degree preferably in business or related field;
• Relevant professional qualification (CPA (K)/ACCA or an equivalent); and
• Member of a relevant professional body.
Knowledge, Experience and Competences
• At least 8 years finance and accounting experience, 2 of which should be at a managerial level
• Hands on experience in financial planning, managing financial controls and directing organizational budgets
• Working knowledge and exposure to financial reporting standards like IFRS, IAS and Kenyan Tax laws;
• Cost accounting experience
• Ability to outline and communicate effective objectives and action plans;
