General Purpose:
The Pool Technician – Staff Housing Engineering is responsible for the technical operation, maintenance, and repair of swimming pool systems within the staff housing complex, which includes separate pools for male and female residents. This role ensures water quality, equipment functionality, and compliance with health and safety standards. The pool technician works closely with the Water Quality Team, principal technicians and the Pool Cleaner to maintain optimal pool conditions.
Essential Duties &Tasks:
· Operate and maintain pool filtration, circulation, and heating systems.
· Conduct routine inspections of pumps, filters, strainers, valves, and dosing units.
· Perform water testing for pH, chlorine, and other chemical levels; adjust dosing as required in consult with water quality team.
· Carry out disinfection procedures including shock treatments and backwashing.
· Troubleshoot and repair pool equipment including motors, timers, and control panels.
· Monitor water temperature, clarity, and flow rates to ensure safe swimming conditions.
· Maintain accurate records of water testing, chemical usage, and maintenance activities.
· Coordinate with the Water Quality Team for compliance audits and inspections.
· Supervise and guide the Pool Cleaner in daily cleaning routines and safety practices.
· Report major faults or equipment failures to the Principal Building Technician.
· Ensure all work is performed in accordance with UAE health and safety regulations.
Qualifications / Experience:
· Technical certification in pool maintenance or mechanical systems preferred.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in pool operations and equipment handling.
· Strong understanding of water chemistry and pool safety standards.
· Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and technical diagrams.
· Good communication and supervisory skills.
· Familiarity with CMMS systems and digital reporting tools is a plus.
· Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests, complaints, and emergency breakdowns, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to residents.
