The only institution of higher learning in Kenya for a long time, the University of Nairobi responded to the national, regional and Africa’s high level manpower training needs by developing and evolving strong, diversified academic programmes and specializations in basic sciences, applied sciences, technology, humanities, social sciences and the arts.AC/5/54/23Applicants must have An applicant must be a holder of an earned PhD in any of the following disciplines: Plant or Animal Ecology, Plant Physiology, Microbiology, Plant Taxonomy and Economic Botany, Mycology, Genetics, Microbiology, Hydrobiology, Entomology or Parasitology or equivalent degree from a University recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.He/she must have a minimum of ten years teaching experience; three of which are at an Associate Professor level; Supervised to completion (CUMULATIVE) a minimum of three PhD and five masters students; OR A minimum of two PhD and nine Masters Students. A minimum of thirty nine publication points from peer reviewed journals with; a minimum of six publications in refereed scholarly journals OR A minimum of four publications in refereed scholarly journals and two scholarlybook chapters since last promotion OR minimum of four publications in refereed scholarly journals and two peer reviewed working, discussion or occasional papers OR two scholarly published teaching/ lecturer modules since last promotion; Attracted Research or development funds or educational resources as an Associate Professor or equivalent since last promotion and show evidence of community service and have Registered with relevant professional body.The successful candidate will be expected to provide academic leadership, teach, mentor andsupervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, undertake research in their areas of specialization. They will also be expected to participate in Departmental, Faculty and University activities.
