The Program Manager will also engage stakeholders such as the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development to help strengthen and integrate the work within Kenya’s education system.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 


RISE Program Planning

  • Lead the design and co-development of project work plans in collaboration with the Program Specialist and local Kenyan partners, including defining priority milestones and ensuring alignment with national and county-level education priorities.
  • Lead the implementation of the RISE component within the Naserian Project, ensuring alignment with program goals, timelines, and partner expectations.
  • Track and support the delivery of agreed milestones and outputs by partner organizations in line with the work plan.
  • Conduct regular school and partner site visits to observe learning sessions, mentor facilitators, and identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and submit clear observation and training reports based on field visits.
  • Develop and maintain clear, structured documentation of partnerships, capturing key insights, progress, and emerging priorities to inform ongoing program strategy.


Partner Management & Training

  • Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with local partner organizations through regular check-ins, structured reporting processes, and ongoing engagement.
  • Support the design, planning, and facilitation of training workshops across school- and community-based settings for facilitators, teachers, and community mentors.
  • Draft clear and concise training reports capturing key insights and outcomes from each workshop.
  • Support partners in submission of narrative reports and financial reports in accordance with the signed agreements and contracts 
  • Ensure continuity and effective transition of key partnerships and stakeholder relationships, maintaining strong engagement and institutional knowledge across the Kenya portfolio.
  • Establish and manage organized systems for program documentation, including contracts, partner information, resources, and key records, to support effective program management and cross-team collaboration.


Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)

  • Conduct regular field visits to partner organizations and schools to monitor program implementation using established monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks.
  • Identify implementation challenges, provide on-ground support, and contribute to adaptive program improvements.
  • Document stories of change, working closely with the Communications team, that reflect the lived experiences of girls and their communities, contributing to organizational learning and impact evidence.
  • Support the recruitment and supervision of data collectors to administer qualitative and quantitative surveys, as needed.


Government & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage and coordinate with the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development to share program insights and qualitative findings from RISE curriculum implementation, and support alignment with national curriculum priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Program Specialist to explore and support opportunities for formal partnership with KICD on life skills curriculum integration within public schools.
  • Support the adaptation and contextualization of the 45-week RISE curriculum and accompanying story-based learning materials to align with KICD review and endorsement processes.


Communications & Storytelling

  • Produce high-quality reports, documents, concept notes etc. for internal and external audiences, in collaboration with internal communications teams.
  • Support the planning and execution of county- or national-level events and learning forums to showcase program impact and amplify community voices.
  • Represent Girl Rising at external events and convenings, and contribute to strengthening relationships with NGOs, community-based organizations, and other ecosystem actors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified teacher status (registered with the Teachers Service Commission) is a mandatory requirement.
  • Master’s degree in Education, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in social impact, gender equality, education, or international development within Kenya or East Africa.
  • Demonstrated understanding of girls’ education, gender equality, and safeguarding issues within the Kenyan context.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate impact to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and remotely, and collaborate effectively within a distributed team.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust across communities and institutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace tools.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili required.
