Job Summary
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the job holder will be responsible for day to day SACCO operations including; timely preparation and submission of financial reports to facilitate effective decision making by stakeholders (management, board of directors and members); ensuring sound financial/accounting policies, procedures and controls to ensure prudent management; and control of financial resources as well as effective management of the staffs. Offer effective and efficient services to all the members.

Job Description/Requirements
Cash Management
- Maintain the General Ledger, check entries in the cash book and the ledger accounts
- In liaison with the Accountant ,process Cheques, banking EFT / RTGS / deposits and withdrawal slips and other Payments
- Prepare Cash Flow Statements and advice management on daily cash position.
- Ensure real time reconciliation of Bank Account, Mobile payment platforms i.e. MPESA and other Account Reconciliation.
- Ensures that all transactions involving the Sacco expenditure are properly authorized.
Budgeting
- Prepare budgets in consultation with the management, ensure budgetary controls are in place, monitor and report on variances.
- Prepare and analyze on regular basis the SACCO’s plans, budgetary estimates and provide explanations on variances.
Member Services
- Prepare and process payments to members.
- Prepare and maintain member’s personal accounts.
- Daily reconciliation of member’s deposits account balances.
- Ensure members’ Statements with regard to Deposits, Loans and Other savings are correctly updated and reconciled for any discrepancy according to procedure manuals.
- Reconcile all Check-offs and other remittances with ledgers and member accounts.
Records Management
- Ensure proper filling of documents and records in accordance with financial procedure.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of all transactions.
- Ensure safe custody of Society’s cheque books and other sensitive documents
Reporting & Compliance
- Extraction of monthly Trial Balances, Cash Flows and Forecast statements
- Preparing daily, weekly, monthly and final accounts and reports.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and reports in an accurate and timely manner including preparation for annual auditing exercise.
- Ensure that all accounting transactions comply with set financial systems and controls and initiate remedial action where this is not the case.
- Ensure compliance with the existing accounting policies formulated by the Management and in line with the Cooperative Societies Act, and International Accounting Standards.
- Liaise with the external auditors during interim and annual audit and follow-up recommendations of internal audit findings
- Attend all Board meeting and AGM in advisory capacity.
Human and Culture of Performance
- You will be in charge of identifying, growing and managing human capital capable to deliver breakthrough results at the Sacco
- You will train, mentor and coach Sacco staff to ensure they acquire sufficient capacity to execute Sacco growth and operating plans
- Together with the BOD, you will endeavour to build and evolve a culture of integrity and performance at the branch, promoting and living the prescribed company values.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- University degree in Bachelor of Commerce/Business administration/Accounting or equivalent from a recognized university.
- CPA (K) or equivalent.
- Diploma in Co-operative Management will be an added advantage
- Minimum 2 years working experience in Sacco / Banking / Financial / Money market sector.
- Ability to carry out financial analysis, financial projections, budgeting and reporting
- Proficient in Computerised Accounting Systems/Software. (Xtreme ERP CORE banking system is an added advantage)
- Strong team player with good interpersonal skills and high integrity.
- Excellent communication skills, fluency in English & Swahili (Verbal and Written)
- Excellent customer care, analytical, technical and logical approach to problem solving.
