Job descriptions & requirements

Core Teaching Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery – Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in line with the CBC framework and school policies.
  • Assessment – Design, administer, and mark formative and summative assessments to track learner progress.
  • Record Keeping – Maintain accurate learner progress records, attendance registers, and assessment results.
  • Learning Support – Identify learners with special needs or learning difficulties and provide appropriate support or referrals.
  • Classroom Management – Foster a disciplined, orderly, and safe learning environment conducive to growth.
  • Instructional Materials – Develop creative teaching aids, integrate ICT tools, and apply learner-centred methodologies.
  • Mentorship – Offer academic and moral guidance to support learners' overall development.
  • Counselling – Support the social and emotional well-being of learners.
  • Character Formation – Instil core values including respect, responsibility, teamwork, and integrity.
  • Health & Safety – Monitor learner welfare and promptly report any health or security concerns


Co-Curricular & Extracurricular Duties

  • Talent Nurturing – Identify and develop learners' unique skills and talents.
  • School Events – Actively participate in academic days, sports days, cultural events, and inter-school competitions.


Professional & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Staff Collaboration – Work collaboratively with colleagues, attend staff meetings, and contribute to school improvement initiatives.
  • Reporting – Prepare comprehensive progress reports and communicate learners' achievements and areas of growth to parents.
  • Continuous Professional Development – Participate in training sessions, workshops, and refresher courses to stay current in best practices.


Requirements

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education
  • Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
  • Subject specialization: English, Creative Arts & CRE
  • Demonstrated school-based teaching experience of at least 3 years.
