· Key Responsibilities
o Menu Development and Culinary Craft
§ Plan and prepare menu items for breakfast, brunch, or light dining, ensuring consistency, portion control, and presentation.
§ Develop seasonal specials, daily specials, and house-made items (e.g., baked goods, small plates) in collaboration with management.
o Coffee Program Leadership
§ Lead the coffee program: espresso extraction, pour-over, cold brew, and specialty beverages; curate drink menus and training.
§ Ensure grinder calibration, equipment maintenance, and quality control across all coffee offerings.
o Kitchen and Café Operations
§ Manage kitchen workflow and front-of-house coordination to ensure seamless service between food and beverage.
§ Maintain cleanliness, compliance with health codes, and safe food handling in both kitchen and barista stations.
o Team Leadership and Training
§ Hire, train, and mentor kitchen and barista staff; schedule shifts; monitor performance and provide feedback.
§ Cross-train team members to support both culinary and beverage service during peak times.
o Inventory, Cost Control, and Quality Assurance
§ Monitor inventory for food and beverage items; manage portion control, waste reduction, and cost targets.
§ Maintain high standards of food quality, beverage texture, taste, and presentation.
o Customer Service and Experience
§ Engage with guests to understand dietary needs and preferences; upsell food and beverage options.
§ Ensure a warm, welcoming dining experience with consistent service excellence.
o Sanitation, Safety, and Compliance
§ Enforce food safety, allergen management, and workplace safety policies.
§ Maintain sanitation logs, temperature records, and daily opening/closing checklists.
o Bar and Kitchen Collaboration
§ Coordinate with front-of-house staff on timing, specials, and kitchen-bar integration for smooth service.
· Required Skills and Qualifications
o Proven experience as a chef or cook in a kitchen, with additional experience in a café or coffee-focused setting.
o Proficiency in culinary techniques across a defined menu, plus solid barista skills (espresso, milk texturing, dialing in shot balance).
o Strong leadership, training, and time-management abilities.
o Excellent palate, plating, and presentation skills; ability to maintain consistency under pressure.
o Knowledge of food safety, allergen management, standard sanitation practices.
o Flexibility to work across kitchen and barista stations; ability to multitask effectively.
· Preferred Qualifications
o Culinary or barista certifications.
o Experience with pastry/bakery outputs, house-made items, and beverage program development.
o Familiarity with inventory software, POS systems, and cost-control analytics.
· Work Environment
o Hybrid kitchen and front-of-house environment; fast-paced with service-driven intensity.
