JOB TITLE: COMMIS CHEF(10 POSITIONS)

NATURE OF JOB: FULLTIME

INDUSTRY: HOSPITALITY

SALARY: KSHS. 25,000

JOB LOCATION: WESTLANDS


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of high-quality dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s recipes and standards.
  • Work closely with the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Handle mise en place duties (preparing ingredients before service).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and storage areas in
  • compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Follow kitchen procedures and maintain consistency in food preparation and taste.
  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, and rotation of all food items to minimize waste.
  • Adhere to portion control standards and minimize food wastage.
  • Assist with inventory checks and receive deliveries while ensuring quality and quantity.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and tools, reporting any maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen environment.
  • Be proactive in learning new cooking techniques and improving culinary skills.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the kitchen management.


KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts or relevant hospitality training
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a high-end or fine dining restaurant
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience in continental cuisine
  • Excellent knife skills and basic kitchen techniques
  • Ability to follow recipes and presentation standards accurately
  • Good knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP or equivalent)
  • A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
  • Flexible and willing to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays
