About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced Financial Controller to join our dynamic team. The Financial Reporting Lead will be responsible for overseeing the preparation, accuracy, and timely delivery of internal and external financial reports. The role ensures compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements, while providing key financial insights to support strategic decision making.


Key Responsibilities:

• Prepares monthly financial statements, management accounts, audit packs and other reporting requirements.

• Computes statutory taxes and prepares tax returns, ensuring compliance with reporting standards and other tax regulations.

• Reviews, creates, and implements a reliable financial control framework with clearly structured processes, policies, and procedures.

• Establishes, implements, and reviews appropriate accounting schedules.

• Supports in ensuring accounting principles and reporting requirements are adhered to.

• Supports financial audits and production of statutory accounts including any consolidation and supporting notes.

• Liaises with internal and external stakeholders including local tax authorities, auditors, advisors, and statutory bodies.

• Supports the development of new initiatives for the improvement of finance functions.

• Monitors monthly P&L, sales and cost of sales, cash flow statements, and other financial reports to track financial performance.

• Prepares and records assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses entries by compiling and analysing account information.

• Summarises current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.

• Checks and signs off monthly bank reconciliations of company accounts.

• Develops, implements, and modifies record-keeping and accounting systems for efficiency.

• Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information for audit purposes.

• Ensures all costs and revenues are promptly captured on SAP.

• Advises on financial accounting implications of new revenue streams and transactions, ensuring optimal treatments are implemented.

• Manages the month-end timetable and produces monthly reporting packs, including recharges, journals, review/reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts, and forecasts.

• Maintains the chart of accounts and financial data models.

• Assists with the preparation of annual budgets.

• Keeps up to date with the latest financial reporting standards.

• Manages invoicing, payments, ledger processes, and bank reconciliations.

• Maintains the integrity of data used in financial systems.

• Cross-checks and confirms the accuracy of all payment vouchers prepared by the Accounts Payable Accountant.

• Authorises petty cash vouchers and IOUs.

• Cross-checks the accuracy of payroll.

• Partners with the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager and other business units to support planning and forecasting for key business decisions.

• Conducts variance analysis and reconciliations such as budget vs. actual comparisons.

• Supports budgeting and forecasting processes by providing actual costs and balances with insights into key drivers and trends.

• Documents, implements, and maintains requirements of the Quality, Food Safety, Environment, Health, and Safety Management Systems.


Minimum Requirements (As per Kenyan Law):

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related discipline.

• Minimum of 7 years relevant experience.

• Relevant professional certifications e.g. Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPAK), Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (ACCA).

• Good standing with the ICPAK.


Desired Skills and Competencies:

• In-depth knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and strong expertise in budgeting and financial planning.

• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and advanced Excel/financial modelling skills.

• Commercial acumen with a focus on profitability and financial efficiency.

• Excellent communication and financial reporting skills for diverse stakeholders.

• High attention to detail and ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.

• Strong integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial data.
