1. JOB SUMMARY

The General Manager – Pharmaceutical is responsible for overseeing the overall operations, administration, and strategic direction of the pharmaceutical company. The role ensures regulatory compliance, financial sustainability, product quality, and market competitiveness. The ideal candidate combines pharmaceutical industry expertise with strong leadership and business acumen to drive growth, innovation, and service excellence.


2. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

•        Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for pharmaceutical operations.

•        Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality pharmaceutical products.

•        Strengthen financial governance and sustainability.

•        Enhance customer satisfaction and market trust.

•        Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and industry standards.

•        Drive innovation, digitization, and continuous improvement in operations.

•        Support staff development, engagement, and retention.


3. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Strategic Leadership & Governance

•        Develop and implement company strategy aligned with board directives.

•        Provide leadership in policy formulation and execution.

•        Monitor organizational performance against strategic objectives.

B. Operations Management

•        Oversee production, distribution, and sales departments to ensure efficiency.

•        Ensure optimal resource allocation and utilization.

•        Drive continuous improvement in product development and delivery.

C. Financial Management

•        Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and reporting.

•        Ensure cost control and revenue optimization.

•        Strengthen financial accountability and compliance.

D. Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

•        Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical laws, GMP standards, and licensing requirements.

•        Coordinate external audits, inspections, and certifications.

•        Maintain adherence to internal policies and SOPs.

E. Product Quality & Customer Service

•        Promote product quality assurance and customer satisfaction.

•        Monitor market feedback and implement improvement initiatives.

•        Support pharmacovigilance and safety standards.

F. Human Resource & Talent Management

•        Lead workforce planning, recruitment, and retention strategies.

•        Support staff training, development, and performance management.

•        Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professionalism.

G. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

•        Build strong relationships with regulators, suppliers, and industry partners.

•        Represent the company in external forums and partnerships.

•        Ensure transparent communication with staff and customers.

H. Systems & Innovation

•        Support implementation of ERP and pharmaceutical information systems.

•        Drive digitization and process automation.

•        Encourage adoption of innovative pharmaceutical practices.


4. QUALIFICATIONS

•        Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Business Administration, or related field.

•        Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Management, MBA, or equivalent (mandatory).

•        Professional certification in pharmaceutical management or leadership is an added advantage.

•        Minimum 7–10 years’ progressive experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare management.

•        Experience in strategic planning, financial management, and regulatory compliance in pharmaceuticals.
