Job summary

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the offloading of avocados, warehouse Management, oil production, management of solid waste and water treatment, disposal and maintenance of cleanliness of the warehouse and processing plant. This role ensures a smooth operation of all related activities, adherence to quality and safety standards, and compliance with environmental and company regulations.

Reporting to Operations Manager


Key Responsibilities

  1. Offloading and Warehouse Management:

    • Supervise the offloading of avocados from delivery trucks.

    • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of received tonnage.

    • Coordinate with quality and offloading teams to ensure a short turnaround time for the trucks to ensure timely offloading of vehicles.

    • Oversee fruits inspection and sampling for quality, DM and report any discrepancies.

    • Ensure that stacking of bins in the ware house is done in a safe manner to avoid bins breakage and falling

    • Oversee hourly and daily sorting rate to ensure the respective targets in terms of quality and quantity are met.

    • Coordinate the forklift operations to ensure smooth process flow in offloading, sorting and Production.

  2. Manufacturing Supervision:

    • Oversee the entire Production process.

    • Ensure production targets are met and quality standards, yield and FFA are maintained.

    • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance for timely repairs to minimize down times.

    • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  3. Solid Waste and Wastewater Management:

    • Develop and implement waste management strategies for timely and efficient disposal of solid waste to ensure smooth running of the production processes.

    • Manage the treatment and disposal of wastewater in compliance with environmental and company regulation regulations.

    • Coordinate with waste department heads to keep record of total waste disposed, water treated and/ or disposed.

    • oversee the water treatment plant to ensure it runs at maximum efficiency to minimize overflows and use of exhausters.

    • Coordinate with logistics to ensure availability of waste tippers, lorries and exhauster when needed for waste disposal.

  4. Warehouse and Processing Plant Cleanliness:

    • Ensure the warehouse and processing plant are kept clean and organized.

    • Work with relevant heads to develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures.

    • Supervise cleaning staff and ensure adherence to cleanliness standards.

    • Conduct regular inspections to ensure the facility meets hygiene and safety standards.

  5. Safety and Compliance:

    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.

    • Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

    • Maintain records of safety incidents and implement corrective actions.

  6. Process Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

    • Implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency.

    • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare reports on operational performance per department

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Production/Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Food Science & Technology, Chemical/Process Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in production or agro-processing operations with demonstrated ability to coordinate warehouse activities, manufacturing processes, waste and wastewater management, safety compliance, and KPI-driven performance improvement.
