Cafe & Farm Shop Manager
Job summary
We need someone to run it. Not someone who manages from an office. Someone who walks the floor. Pours the first pour-over of the day. Knows when the avocados are ripe and when the dukawalas are coming by. Greets the regulars by their first names. Runs the till at peak. Holds the standard.

Operations
- Open and close the cafe every day. Make sure the team, the kitchen, the farm shop and the modified container bar are ready before 7am and reset before 7pm.
- Hold the daily briefing — menu changes, what's in season at Cũcũ's Farm, who is visiting today, what we're working on.
- Own the P&L. Hit revenue, food cost, labour cost and basket-size targets. Flag misses early.
- Manage stock — coffee from our own roastery, pastries from Artcaffe, fresh produce + dairy + meat from Cũcũ's Farm, dry goods from approved suppliers.
- Run the till and manage daily cash-up, M-Pesa reconciliations and Pesapal reporting alongside Mark in Finance.
- Maintain
the service standard. Every customer should feel they were welcomed, not just
served.
Team
- Hire, train, schedule and develop the cafe team (currently sized at 5–6 people, growing to 7–8 by Year 2).
- Coach the brand voice — warm, proud, story-led — into how the team speaks to customers.
- Run weekly one-to-ones and quarterly performance reviews.
Brand & Hospitality
- Be the face of the cafe. Greet regulars by name. Walk the floor every hour during peak service.
- Host media, influencers and Guka community visits with the same care given to a paying customer.
- Work with Purity (Brand & Marketing) on weekly content from the cafe — what's seasonal, what's launching, what made today memorable.
Compliance & Safety
- Keep every licence current — Public Health, Fire, Music, Insurance.
- Run the daily food-safety checklist (fridge temps, hygiene, deep cleans).
- Be the
on-site lead for any inspection or incident.
