About the Role
The Tour Consultant is responsible for the visionary planning, development, and seamless implementation of Tembo Wild’s luxury tourism products. In this role, you will act as a travel architect – devising sophisticated travel options and managing complex logistics by coordinating with high end hotels, airlines, and ground transport providers. As a specialist in African travel, you will provide expert guidance to clients, recommending premier destinations and the most efficient modes of travel. Whether suggesting an exclusive escorted tour or designing a complex, tailor -made itinerary, the Tour Consultant ensures that every separate element of a client’s journey fits together perfectly to deliver a life -changing travel experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Itinerary Design and Product Development
● Curate bespoke tour itineraries in direct response to client inquiries, ensuring each journey is uniquely tailored to their specific interests and luxury standards.
● Design and innovate new travel products to expand the company’s portfolio, identifying unique experiences that align with the Tembo Wild brand.
● Assist in the creative evolution of existing trips , refining routes and activities to ensure they remain fresh and transformational.
● Expertly compute costs for customized tours , ensuring high -value pricing that is accurate and sustainable.
Sales and Client Consultation
● Respond to luxury travel inquiries with exceptional professionalism, whether via phone or written correspondence, acting as an expert advisor on African destinations.
● Provide insightful travel advice , guiding clients on the best destinations, travel timing, and logistics to match their personal preferences.
● Convert inquiries into confirmed bookings by building trust and demonstrating deep knowledge of the African tourism landscape.
Logistics and Vendor Management
● Manage bookings with external service providers , including premier hotels, specialized drivers, and professional guides.
● Coordinate complex travel elements , including ground transport and internal flights, to create a seamless experience.
● Act as a key liaison between the company and our network of high -end suppliers to maintain service excellence.
Client Care and Emergency Support
● Serve as the primary point of contact for guests while they are traveling, providing a high -touch "concierge" style of service.
● Provide 24/7 on - call support to handle issues or emergencies outside of normal office hours.
General Versatility
● Maintain professional flexibility to assist with any additional tasks or projects required by management to ensure business success.
Required Competencies
● Academic Background: A University Degree in Travel, Tourism, or Hospitality Management is mandatory.
● Secondary Education: A minimum grade of C+ in KCSE.
● Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the tours and travel industry.
● Subject Matter Expertise: Previous management and tourism experience with deep knowledge of relevant destinations, attractions, and travel logistics is mandatory.
● Communication Mastery: Exceptional written and verbal English skills; the ability to communicate with sophistication and clarity to high -net -worth international clients.
● Operational Accuracy: Meticulous attention to detail and strong numerical literacy ("good with figures") for tour costing and administration.
● Tech Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and familiarity with travel industry platforms.
● Project and Research Skills: Strong research abilities and proven project management skills.
● Customer Excellence: A high -level commitment to premium customer service.
● Passion for the Industry: A genuine and demonstrable interest in the travel landscape and the art of outdoor adventure.
Desirable Competencies
● Project Management Experience: Previous experience overseeing complex tasks or travel projects from inception to completion.
● Analytical Research Skills: Proven ability to source, synthesize, and present information to support business development and bespoke travel planning.
● Linguistic Skills: Proficiency in multiple foreign languages is a significant asset.
Role Dynamics and Travel Requirements
● Destination Insights: To ensure our guests receive a truly bespoke experience, there may be periodic opportunities to conduct site visits and property inspections. These engagements are scheduled strategically to align with our destination priorities and the continued growth o f our luxury portfolio.
● Operational Flexibility: As a luxury service provider, this role requires the ability to handle time -sensitive client needs and "on -call" emergencies outside of standard business hours.
