Job summary
Top Notch Management Services is Human Resources Management firm with its head office in Nairobi and branches across the Country. On behalf of our client a leading flower firm located at Athi Kapiti Plains – Kajiado specializing in growing and exporting premium quality fresh cut flowers, we are seeking to hire a highly motivated and results-driven Human Resource Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will be expected to assist in planning, leading, and coordinating the Human Resource Management function within the flower farm and ensure effective utilization, motivation, and development of employees, compliance with labour laws, and achievement of organizational goals.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Develop and implement effective recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for both permanent and seasonal employees.
- Liaise with department heads to identify staffing needs in production, packhouse, and administration.
- Maintain up-to-date employee records and job descriptions.
- Promote positive employee relations through effective communication and grievance handling procedures.
- Manage disciplinary procedures in line with Kenyan Labour Laws, farm HR policies and HR best practices.
- Serve as the link between management and employee representatives or trade unions.
- Oversee performance appraisal processes and ensure alignment with farm productivity goals.
- Support line managers in setting measurable performance targets.
- Recommend and implement performance improvement plans.
- Identify staff training needs and develop capacity-building programs.
- Organize training on occupational health and safety, leadership, and compliance.
- Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness.
- Ensure accurate preparation of payroll data in coordination with the finance department.
- Manage employee benefits, including leave, medical cover, and statutory deductions (NSSF, SHIF,PAYE etc.…).
- Advice the management on salary structures and incentive schemes.
- Ensure compliance with the Employment Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, and all relevant labour laws.
- Maintain proper documentation for audits, certification schemes (e.g., Fairtrade, Global G.A.P.), and inspections.
- Handle labour inspections and external stakeholder relations professionally.
- Collaborate with the Safety Officer to ensure safe working conditions for all staff.
- Coordinate employee welfare programs and social initiatives.
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the farm’s operational goals.
- Prepare periodic HR reports on headcount, turnover, absenteeism, and employee engagement.
- Advise management on human capital planning and succession management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field. Higher Diploma in HRM (KNEC) or CHRP qualification an added advantage.
- At least 7 years of HR experience, preferably in a flower farm.
- Member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) and holder of a valid practicing certificate.
- Knowledge of Kenyan Labour Laws, certification standards (Fairtrade, Global G.A.P.), and industrial relations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- High integrity and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in HR software and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage seasonal workforce dynamics.
