Job Advert: Human Resource Officer

Overview: We are seeking to recruit a dedicated and professional Human Resource Officer to support HR operations within our lottery business. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong HR administrative skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and an understanding of the unique regulatory and operational needs of the Lottery, gaming, and digital promotions environment. This role will play a key role in managing the performance management process, recruitment, compliance, and overall employee relations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment for office, digital, field, and operational teams.
- Oversee the full performance management cycle, including development of KPIs, goal setting, quarterly evaluations, performance tracking, and follow-up.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on performance standards and documentation.
- Monitor performance trends, identify gaps, and recommend performance improvement strategies.
- Ensure proper onboarding and induction aligned with Lottery regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, HR files, and compliance documentation.
- Manage employee relations, handle misconduct cases, and support conflict resolution.
- Ensure HR policies are adhered to and aligned with labour laws and gaming regulations.
- Oversee leave management, attendance tracking, and timekeeping for staff.
- Coordinate staff training, compliance sessions, and capacity-building initiatives.
- Support payroll processing through timely submission of HR data
- Participate in HR audits and compile HR reports.
- Support the enforcement of the company’s code of conduct and disciplinary procedures.
- Promote a positive and compliant workplace culture
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- A minimum of 3 years’ HR experience, preferably in gaming, Lottery, fintech, marketing, or other fast-paced commercial environments.
- CHRP certification or membership in IHRM (added advantage).
- Strong knowledge of Kenya Labour Laws and HR best practices.
- Experience handling recruitment, HR documentation, employee relations, and compliance matters.
- Ability to work with diverse teams, including field staff, call center teams, digital teams, and promotional staff.
- High integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and HR systems.
Key Attributes for the Lottery Environment
- Understanding of consumer promotions, digital engagement, or gaming operations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated industry.
- Strong discipline in documentation, compliance, and reporting.
- Flexibility to support operational needs, including campaigns, draws, or field activities when required.
